Former India cricketer Suresh Raina heaped praise on New Zealand youngster Rachin Ravindra, saying that the 23-year-old has shown a striking ability similar to that of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. Ravindra is currently third on the charts of leading run-getters in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Indian soil. The left-hander has amassed 565 runs in nine innings at an average of 70.62 with three centuries and two half-centuries to his name.

The left-handed Rachin scored hundreds against the likes of England, Australia, and Pakistan to show his talent with the bat in hand. Suresh Raina lauded the left-handed batter ahead of New Zealand’s semi-final clash against India on November 15 at the historic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

“Ravindra is a local boy from Bangalore and has been hitting the ball like Rohit Sharma and has been changing the course of the game,” Raina was quoted as saying on India Today’s ‘Battle of Champions’ show.

New Zealand opener Devon Conway started his ICC Cricket World Cup campaign with a bang, scoring 152 against England in the tournament opener. However, after that Conway is struggling with the bat as he has failed to score a single half-century after his terrific innings against the defending champions.

New Zealand’s Devon Conway Can Also Be A Huge Threat For India

Suresh Raina showed belief in his CSK teammate’s ability and said that Conway can score big runs in important matches. In the IPL 2023 final, Devon Conway was the top run-getter for CSK in the finals and his innings helped CSK clinch their fifth IPL title by beating Gujrat Titans in the finals.

“He is a big match-winner and we have seen that in the IPL. We saw that he scored a hundred against England. He looks solid and plays all around the ground and he plays spin really well and reads the situation well. He hasn’t been scoring, but has always done well in big games,” he added.

In nine matches, Devon Conway has amassed 359 runs at a decent average of 44.87 and a strike rate of 102.27. New Zealand batters have been in really good form and with skipper Kane Williamson back in the squad, the Kiwis will be ready to take on the Men In Blue and might defeat them again in the Semi-Finals for the second consecutive time. However, India is in really dominating form in this World Cup and they will be looking to avenge their semi-final loss against the Blackcaps in the 2019 World Cup.
