Virat Kohli broke the massive record of the great Sachin Tendulkar in the history of the World Cup. The right-hander surpassed the batting great’s tally of 673 runs and now owns the record for most runs scored in the single edition of the World Cup. 

Virat Kohli achieved the feat in the ongoing semi-final 1 of the ICC World Cup 2023 between India and New Zealand. The right-hander has continued his golden touch and has stepped up for the team in the most crucial match of the tournament for them so far. 

Virat Kohli came to bat when India lost Rohit Sharma (47) after a brisk start. The right-hander took his time and eased himself into the game. He played typical ‘Kohli’ innings and batted magnificently. His running between the wickets has been the standout feature of his innings. 

Virat Kohli slammed his 8th fifty-plus score in the 10 innings that he has played in the ICC World Cup 2023 so far. The batter has timed the ball to perfection and made sure that his side is in the dominant position in the high-pressure game against New Zealand in Mumbai. 

Virat Kohli is the leading run-getter in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. He has scored over 675 runs and has a breathtaking average of over 111 in the 10 games. He has smashed 6 half-centuries and 3 tons so far in the tournament. 

With his ton, Virat Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most ODI centuries as well. The batter now has 50 tons to his name. This knock of his would be rated highly as he slammed it in the knockout game. This is also his highest score in the semi-finals of the World Cup.
