New Zeland’s star pacer Trent Boult is unlikely to feature in the Blackcaps’ home season this summer. However, head coach Gary Stead is confident to have Boult next year. Trent Boult gave up his New Zealand central contract in 2022 in order to become a freelancer. However, he reunited with the Blackcaps for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, where New Zealand made the semi-finals.
Trent Boult has made himself unavailable for New Zealand’s next mission, a two-match Test series in Bangladesh, which also marks the start of a new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for both sides. Instead, Boult will be making his debut in the T-10 format where he will be in action for Deccan Gladiators in the Abu Dhabi T10 league.
After the T10 league, Trent Boult will link up with MI Emirates in the ILT20 league which is UAE’s T20 League. MI Emirates retained Boult’s services and he will feature in the ILT20. The tournament will take place from 19th January to 18th February 2024.

Gary Stead Is Hopeful About Trent Boult Returning To International Cricket Soon

At this stage, Trent and I still need to have a conversation,” Stead said after New Zealand lost to India in the World Cup semi-finals in Mumbai. “He’s unavailable for the Bangladesh Test series. He’s got other commitments in a T10 league, and then the UAE T20 league as well. I think that eats right into the February time period. So, it looks unlikely that Trent will play too much in our home summer. He may be available for the T20s against Australia. I still need to have that conversation with him.”
New Zealand will face Australia in a three-match T20 series at home. This series could precede IPL 2024, where Boult is among the most sought-after overseas seamers currently representing Rajasthan Royals. The IPL will be followed by the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled to take place from June 4 to June 30. Gary Stead hasn’t ruled out the possibility of Trent Boult featuring for the Kiwis in the near future.
“I think there’s every chance [we will see him again] provided his desire is there to keep playing,” Stead said. “I think he’s still a world-class bowler,”  he added.

Trent Boult Can Be A Part Of New Zealand’s T20 World Cup Squad

The 34-year-old left-arm seamer is the oldest member of the current New Zealand squad alongside Tim Southee. With Kane Williamson also reaching 33, this might have been the last ODI World Cup for New Zealand’s golden generation. However, Kane Williamson believes that there is still a lot of cricket to be played by this generation of players.
Trent Boult is highly likely to be a part of New Zealand’s T20 World Cup squad and given his experience in T20 by playing T20 leagues throughout the globe, he will be a key asset for the Kiwis. Boult may have rejected a central contract from New Zealand but he is still one of the most valuable assets for the Blackcaps in megaevents.

On Saturday, November 18, the Bangladesh National Cricket Team announced their squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against the New Zealand National Cricket Team.

The matches between the Bangla Tigers and the Black Caps are set to be hosted in Sylhet and Dhaka. The first Test will be played from November 28 to December 2 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium and the second match will be played from December 6 to 10 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

The Bangladesh National Cricket Team squad will be led by Najmul Hossain Shanto in the absence of several key players. Also, three uncapped players have been included in the team namely Hasan Murad, Shahadat Hossain Dipu, and Hasan Mahmud.

The left-arm spinner Hasan Murad has been highly impressive in the domestic circuit as he has bagged 121 wickets in 25 first-class matches since his debut for Chattogram Division in 2021. Also, top-order batter Shahadat Hossain Dipu and right-arm pacer Hasan Mahmud have been doing well for a while.

Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das To Miss Bangladesh vs New Zealand Test Series

The veteran all-rounder and Test captain, Shakib Al Hasan, will miss the Test series due to the finger injury he sustained during the World Cup while Litton Das has decided to skip the matches to be with his family.

“He(Litton) wanted leave for leave for one months and didn’t want to play two Tests as he wanted to give time to his family. We have granted it because we cannot push any player to play,” said Jalal Yunus, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

“We wanted him to play the second Test but he insisted that he wants to give time to his family for one month. He wanted to be with his newborn baby and her mother and as he insisted for several times. We approved his plea,” Yunus said

“If some cricketer doesn’t want to play, in that case you cannot put him in the national team because the professionalism need to come from the heart that ‘I want to play for my country’ and he must know whether he is available or not,” he added.

The other notable names who will miss the series are Tamim Iqbal, Ebadot Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, and Mushfik Hasan. Meanwhile, Najmul Hossain Shanto will become the 13th cricketer to lead Bangladesh in the purest format of the game.

Bangladesh Squad For New Zealand Tests:

Najmul Hossain Shanto will be captaining Bangladesh in the two-match home Test series against New Zealand. This comes after regular skipper Shakib Al Hasan was ruled out of the series after he faced an injury during the ICC World Cup 2023 game.

The first Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand will begin on November 28 in Sylhet and after a short break, the second game will take place from December 6 in Dhaka. Apart from Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh will also be without the services of Taskin Ahmed due to his recurring shoulder injury.

Litton Das will also miss the series as he has been granted one-month leave. He asked for a sabbatical to be his wife and newborn baby. It’ll be a difficult task for Bangladesh as they will be without some of their key players. This means that it’ll be an opportunity for some youngsters to stake their claim in the national team.

Bangladesh Cricket Board Director (BCB) Jalal Yunus talked about the developments and confirmed that Najmul Hossain Shanto will captain the team. Speaking to reporters, he explained (as quoted by DailyStar):

“Najmul Hossain Shanto will be the captain for the two-match Test series against New Zealand. Liton asked for a month’s leave. He will not play the two Tests so that he can spend time exclusively with his family.”

BAN vs NZ: You can’t force him to play the national team – Jalal Yunus on Litton Das not playing

Jalal Yunus targeted Das, saying that they cannot force someone to play for the national side. He revealed that they wanted him to play one game but he didn’t agree. He explained:

“We wanted him to play one Test, but he kept insisting for a month’s leave. So we agreed to grant him the leave. If someone doesn’t want to play, you can’t force him to play the national team. The professionalism must come from his heart.”

The series will be important for both the team in the context of the ICC World Test Championship. After the two Tests, Bangladesh and New Zealand will take on each other in the white-ball series, which will be played in New Zealand in December.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) pitch consultant Andy Atkinson, who accused India of pitch-switching in the semi-final for their benefit, will monitor the pitch preparations for the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, according to the reports in PTI.

Andy Atkinson isn’t a likable figure among the BCCI officials following his accusations of pitch-switching in the India vs New Zealand first semi-final. The high-octane clash between the Men In Blue and New Zealand was played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The match was played on a used pitch, which had staged two matches in the tournament. Reportedly, the match was set to be held on the fresh Pitch 7, but later it was shifted to the used Pitch 6.

After the matter came to light, the ICC released an official statement to clarify that changes in the planned pitch rotations are not uncommon. Also, the governing body informed that Andy Atkinson was apprised of the development in advance.

“Changes to planned pitch rotations are common towards the end of an event of this length and has already happened a couple of times. This change was made on the recommendation of the venue curator in conjunction with our host. The ICC independent pitch consultant was apprised of the change and has no reason to believe the pitch won’t play well,” ICC stated.

Andy Atkinson hasn’t gone back home – BCCI official

The ICC pitch consultant Andy Atkinson was not present during the pitch preparations for the World Cup final on Friday and earlier it was reported that he left the country.

However, an ICC official revealed that he is still in India, but arrived in Ahmedabad on Friday afternoon, which was the reason for his absence at the venue.

“Andy hasn’t gone back home. He has come with ICC delegation today afternoon and hence didn’t come to the ground. He will be available tomorrow to check on the preparation of the track,” an ICC source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

According to the same PTI report, senior BCCI chief of ground staff Ashish Bhowmick and his second in command Taposh Chatterjee, along with BCCI’s GM Abbey Kuruvilla, were present in Ahmedabad to monitor the preparations of the track for the high-profile summit clash.

It’s not yet been confirmed whether the World Cup final will be staged on a fresh or used pitch, but heavy roller was used on the surface.

“If heavy roller is being used on a black soil strip then the idea is to create a slow batting track where you can get a big score but you possibly can’t consistently hit through the line. 315 could be a defendable score as batting second will be difficult,” a state association curator explained.

The summit clash of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will see a high-voltage battle between the Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Pat Cummins-led Australia National Cricket Team at the world’s largest cricket stadium – Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad – on Sunday, November 19.

India entered the final after defeating New Zealand by 70 runs in the first semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Aussies, on the other hand, beat South Africa by 3 wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, to a final berth.

On Friday, November 17, the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) named the veteran left-arm pacer Neil Wagner as the replacement for the injured Matt Henry in the Test squad for the Bangladesh series.

Matt Henry sustained a right hamstring injury during his stint in the ongoing edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. He missed New Zealand’s all-important semi-final clash against India and the Black Caps faced a defeat in that game.

Further scans of Matt Henry have revealed that he will not be fit in time for the Bangladesh Test series, as a result, a replacement player has been added to the squad.

Notably, the veteran pacer Neil Wagner, who has been a top-notch performer for New Zealand, recently made a comeback to the Plunket Shield for Northern Districts after overcoming a back injury.

His record speaks for itself – Sam Wells on Neil Wagner

Talking about the inclusion of Neil Wagner to the Black Caps squad, National Selector Sam Wells said that the return of the pacer is great for them as he brings a lot of experience with him.

“It’ll be great to have Neil’s skill and experience on the tour of Bangladesh,” he said.

“His record speaks for itself and we all know what a great competitor he is. He’s played plenty of cricket in the sub-continent and I know he’s really excited by the challenge ahead.”

Meanwhile, the Test matches between Bangladesh and New Zealand are set to be played from November 28 to December 2 and from December 6 to December 10. The Black Caps will depart for Bangladesh on Tuesday, November 21.

New Zealand Test Squad v Bangladesh:

Tim Southee (c), Tom Blundell (wk), Devon Conway, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Ajaz Patel, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Neil Wagner, Kane Williamson, Will Young

Daryl Mitchell and Virat Kohli

New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell addressed the criticism regarding helping a cramping Virat Kohli during the semi-final against India in the ICC World Cup 2023. Daryl Mitchell emphasized that the Black Caps aim to play cricket in a manner that reflects their values.

Former Australian pacer Simon O’Donnell criticized New Zealand players for supporting Virat Kohli, who suffered cramps while scoring a century at the Wankhede Stadium. Several New Zealand cricketers checked on him and assisted in stretching Kohli’s hamstrings.

We Really Pride Ourselves On As Black Caps – Daryl Mitchell

Speaking before the team left Mumbai late on Thursday, Daryl Mitchell emphasized the team’s pride in conducting themselves with integrity. Mitchell expressed the team’s commitment to respect the rest of the world, both on and off the field.

“I think that’s something we really pride ourselves on as Black Caps and as New Zealanders. We want to play cricket in a way that suits us as a country and how we want to see our kids grow up and play the game themselves,” Mitchell told reporters.

“We’ll keep playing cricket the way we do as Kiwis and hopefully the rest of the world can respect us and how we go about our day-to-day life, not only on the field but off it as well. It’s something that we’re really proud of, so we’ll just keep being Black Caps and doing what we’re doing.”

That’s The Nature Of International Sport – Daryl Mitchell

Daryl Mitchell commented on the demanding schedule in international cricket, citing the quick turnaround after the T20 World Cup final a couple of years ago. He mentioned the team’s familiarity with such scenarios and expressed their love for test cricket.

“That’s the nature of international sport these days. (After) the T20 World Cup final we played a couple of years ago, we had a T20 in India about 48 hours after that, so we’re used to it,” Mitchell further added.

“We’ll show up, we love test cricket, it means a hell of a lot to this group. We’ll be ready to go come the first day of that test and wear that black cap again.”

The New Zealand camp reportedly raised concerns about Indian skipper Rohit Sharma‘s coin toss during the first semi-final match of the ICC World Cup 2023. Fox Cricket reported that Rohit Sharma’s coin tosses raised eyebrows within their team during the tournament.

Before the semi-final, controversy arose, with reports suggesting that the BCCI pressured the ICC to use a used playing surface instead of a fresh pitch. India remained unbeaten and secured a spot in the World Cup 2023 final by winning all 10 of their matches convincingly.

During the coin toss, Kane Williamson relied on the match referee’s decision as the coin had landed a few meters away. The match referee promptly declared that India had won the toss. Team India decided to bat first and posted a formidable total of 397-8 in 50 overs.

Don’t Let Other Captains See – Sikandar Bakht

Former Pakistan cricketer Sikandar Bakht claimed that Rohit Sharma intentionally threw the coin far during the toss to prevent New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson from seeing the outcome. Bakht said that Sharma consistently tossed the coin in a similar way.

“Can I give you a conspiracy theory?” Bakht said on Geo News. “At the time of the toss, Rohit Sharma throws the coin distant from the range of any opposition captain. Thus, the opposition captain cannot go and crosscheck about the call.”

“Very strange the way Rohit Sharma throws the coin at the toss, far away, don’t let other captains see, compared to other captains in the WC, any reason?” he posted on X.

Rohit Sharma recorded five wins and five losses in tosses during the marquee tournament. Rohit does not raise any suspicion of wrongdoing by him or the match referee. The consistent outcomes emphasize fair play in the toss decisions throughout the tournament.

Who Decides Where The Coin Should Land? – Wasim Akram

Speaking on A Sports’ show “The Pavilion”, legendary pacer Wasim Akram dismissed the conspiracy theory about Rohit Sharma fixing tosses, labeling it embarrassing. Akram criticized the notion that Sharma intentionally throws the coin far.

“Who says ki coin ne kaha land karna hai? Ye kisne kaha hai ki usne waha par coin fenkna hai? Vo toh sponsorship ke liye hai, dikhane ke liye hai. Kahi bhi chala jaye. I feel embarrassed (Who decides where the coin should land? It is just for sponsorship! I feel embarrassed),” Akram said.

Mohammed Siraj Remembers His Late Father After India Reaches The Final Of ICC World Cup 2023

Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj played his part in India’s win against New Zealand in Mumbai. The win took India to the final of the World Cup for the first time in 12 years. Siraj went for 78 runs off his nine overs against New Zealand and was a touch expensive.

So far in the tournament, Mohammed Siraj has picked up 13 wickets from 10 matches at an average of 32.62. After the match, he became nostalgic about his father and shared a picture with the text “Dad calling” above which was written ” I wish to see this call”. He captioned his story “Miss You”. Siraj lost his father when he was on his maiden tour to Australia in 2020 due to a heart attack.

Mohammed Siraj Remembers His Late Father

Siraj story on father

It was very evident that Siraj was missing his dad and he remembered his late father after the Mein in Blue reached the final of the tournament. The pace bowling trio together picked up above 50 wickets in the tournament with Mohammed Shami picking 23 and Jasprit Bumah picking 18 apart from Siraj’s 13 scalps.

Shami picked up 7/57 in the semi-final picking up back-to-back wickets in the 33rd over to bring India back in the match. He picked up the wickets of Kane Williamson and Tom Latham in the 33rd over after dropping Williamson a few overs earlier.

By dismissing Lickie Ferguson, Shami ended the Kiwi innings for 327 as India won the match by 70 runs to advance through to the final. The Indian pacer broke several records during his spell. He now has the most fifers in the World Cup and also has the best figures for an Indian bowler in a World Cup match.

“I was waiting for my turn. I wasn’t playing much white ball cricket. I had in mind, we talk about a lot of things like yorkers and slower balls. Tried to take wickets with the new ball. I try to take as many as I can with the new ball. I dropped the catch of Kane. I felt bad. I tried to take pace off. They were playing their shots.

“So, I took a chance. The wicket was good. There was the fear of dew. The grass was cut off nicely. The runs were enough. Had dew come in, things could have been bad. The slower balls might not have worked. I feel amazing. This is a huge platform. Looking to cash in with the chance I have been given. We don’t know when all of us will get a chance like this again” said Shami after the match who was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his match-winning spell.

"Malinga Ko Jis Tarah Se Pela Thaa"- Sunil Gavaskar Almost Unstoppable As He Praises Virat Kohli

Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar had an overflow of his emotions as he described Virat Kohli’s batting en route to his 50th ODI ton against New Zealand in the first semi-final at the Wankhede stadium on Wednesday.

Kohli reached a league of his own as he scored his 50th ODI ton and became the first batter in the history of the game to reach that landmark. In the process, he now has reached 711 runs in this World Cup scoring three hundreds. He also overtook Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 673 runs in the 2003 World Cup and became the first batter to score over 700 runs in a single edition of the World Cup.

Kohli has broken several batting records in this World Cup and Sunil Gavaskar who is a batting icon himself has seen all of them unfold in this World Cup. His emotions were very much on view while he was praising Kohli’s batting display.

One of those moments was when he remembered how Kohli took apart Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga in Hobart in 2012 when he scored 133 off just 86 balls. India had to chase Sri Lanka’s total of 320 in just 37 overs for a place in the final and Kohli’s heroics made it possible.

Looking back to that knock, Gavaskar on his commentary stint for Star Sports Hindi became emotional while remembering that knock from the former Indian skipper. “Malinga ko jis tarah se unhone pela thaa,” said an emotional Gavaskar while describing Kohli’s innings.

India scored 397/4 batting first with centuries from Kohli and Shreyas Iyer after Rohit Sharma gave the team a brilliant start. The match was too close for comfort when Daryl Mitchell (134) and Kane Williamson (69) had an 181-run stand for the third wicket.

Mohammed Shami then took two wickets in the 33rd over including that of Williamson and Toma Latham to break the game open for India. He ended with 7/57 to help his team with the match by 70 runs in the end to get a berth in the World Cup final after 12 years.

Australia and South Africa will play the second semi-final in Kolkata. The winner will take on India in the final on Sunday, November 19.

Wasim Akram lauded Rohit Sharma for his selfless batting approach in the tournament so far. He scored 47 off 29 balls adding a 71-run stand for the first wicket inside the first nine overs in the semi-final. India as a result of that good start piled up 397/4 in the semi-final against the Kiwis.

Rohit’s good start was followed by tons from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. While Kohli scored his 50th ODI ton, Iyer scored his second ton of this World Cup and his fifth overall of his career. Shubman Gill also scored an unbeaten 80 while KL Rahul contributed with 39 off 20 balls in the Indian batting effort.

Wasim Akram in the popular sports show “The Pavillion” lauded Rohit Sharma for the way he has batted in the World Cup so far. Rohit has scored 550 runs at an average of 55 with a hundred and three fifty-plus scores. Akram said people don’t Rohit’s name often because he hasn’t scored too many hundreds.

“It was a complete performance in every aspect of the game and the skipper leading from the front. Uska naam zayad nahi aata kyunki 100 nahi kiya usne ya 150-200 nahi kiye (People don’t talk much about Rohit because he hasn’t got many hundreds) but the kind of start he provides is what we have been speaking about. He batted a strike rate of 162 and piling up 82 in 10 overs, that was the stepping stone,” Akram said on the show.

Akram further praised the Indian batting approach in the same saying that the Indian batters needed to be given the due credit for the way they batted rather than criticizing the Kiwi bowlers.

“The New Zealand bowling attack seemed pedestrian but credit has to be given to India’s quality batting. People spoke about the pitch change and all, but the way they are playing, agar tum unhein akhaade par bhi khila doge to wo utna hi score karenge (even if you make them bat in some wrestling arena in the countryside, they will score the same amount of runs). They have that kind of confidence and a leader who is leading from the front,” he said.

Rohit Sharma Is Not Worried About Fifties Or Hundreds: Wasim Akram

Akra concluded by saying that the Indian skipper is keen on giving his team a good start and is not worried about scoring centuries.

“That’s the beauty of Rohit Sharma. Once he starts, he doesn’t stop. He’s not worried about his fifty or hundreds,” Akram concluded saying.

"Pretty Good Surface Really"- Kane Williamson Reacts To Playing On A "Used Wicket"

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson played down talks of doctored pitches as he labelled the Wankhede track as a “good surface” putting an end to all the criticism of playing on a used pitch.

India defeated New Zealand New Zealand by 70 runs in the first semi-final on Wednesday, with more than 700 runs scored in the match. India scored 397/4 batting first. In reply, the Kiwis scored 327 before being bowled out.

There were rumours that the pitch was changed after consultation from the Indian management to change the game in India’s favour. However, Kane Williamson spoke about the pitch putting all doubts to rest saying that it was a pretty good surface.

“No, I mean, yeah it was a used wicket, but a pretty good surface really, as we saw. I mean, they got plenty out of it in the first half of the match. And conditions, I guess they change as they go under lights and things, and that’s what we’ve seen throughout this competition. That’s fine, that’s what you expect and they played really well. So yeah, I mean it’s disappointing to get to this stage and not go further, but also at the same time you sort of reflect on the seven weeks rather than a couple of small moments and we lost to a better side,” he said, responding to a reporter’s question.

They’re The Best Team In The World: Kane Williamson Lauds India

He further credited the Indian team as the ‘the best team in the world’ saying that they will enter the final with full confidence.

“They’re the best team in the world and they’re all playing their best cricket, so that’s tough. And I think we see in cricket – often it’s surrounded with failure and how you deal with it. The way they’ve played throughout this tournament has been incredible. They haven’t missed a beat really and to come into a semi-final, you go through your round-robin and you try and get to the stage and it starts again but the way they came out and played, yeah, shows the mindset that they have and the space that they’re in and I’ve got no doubt they’ll go into that next match full of confidence,” said the Kiwi skipper.

Australia and South Africa play the second semi-final in Kolkata on Thursday. The winner of that game will play against India in the World Cup final on Sunday.

He was first asked to describe the atmosphere at the Wankhede in three Words to which he replied “electric, passionate and incredible”.

When asked about whether he would be a batter or a bowler, Beckham said that he would prefer to be a batter. ” I used to play cricket when I was a young kid at school and I always liked being the batsman, but I also like to bowl and also like to field. So maybe I am an all-rounder but I see myself as a batter” said Beckham.

I think the whole experience from meeting the people, the children, the food, the energy in the stadium and being here for Diwali and the New Year and the World Cup, it could not have been perfect.”

On meeting with Sachin Tendulkar he said ” It was very special, Obviously, I met Sachin for the very first time at Wimbledon and it was special to meet him then and it was special to meet him now He’s the best but as a person, he is even better. "Uska Catch Chuta Bohut Kharab Laga"- Mohammed Shami On Dropping Kane Williamson

Mohammed Shami picked up 7/57 in the first semi-final against New Zealand in Mumbai on Wednesday to help India reach the finals. In the process, he became the quickest to get to 50 wickets in the World Cup in just 17 innings.

Shami now has 54 wickets at an average of 12.90, an economy rate of over 5, and a strike rate of 15.33. He also has four fifers in World Cup matches surpassing Mitchell Starc’s three.

Though the Indian pacer turned out to be a hero in the game, there was a moment where he turned from hero to zero. He dropped Kane Williamson’s catch in the 29th over of the Kiwi innings to put the Indian fans into silence at the Wankhede. It was a regulation chance that he dropped at mid-on. Williamson just crossed 50 at that point and there was a chance to end his partnership with Daryl Mitchell.

However, he came back and took two wickets in the 33rd over to turn the game in India’s favor. He dismissed Williamson and Tom Latham in back-to-back deliveries to bring India back into the game.

“The focus was to try and take pace off, see if they’re hitting it in the air. It was a chance we had to take” he said about the bowling plan.

I Believe in Getting Wickets With The New Ball: Mohammed Shami

Shami did not play in the first four games for India. He has picked up 23 wickets in the next six games and is the to-wicket taker in the tournament currently. broke a plethora of records in the process and made the Indian bowling attack stand out. He also now has the best figures for an Indian bowler in World Cups and the most fifers in World Cups as well.

“My return started against New Zealand. We talk a lot of variations, but I still believe in pitching it up and getting wickets with the new ball” Shami spoke about his bowling,

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar congratulated the Indian team after they made it to the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. The Men in Blue defeated the Kiwis by 70 runs to make it to the final for the first time in 12 years.

India scored 398/4 on the back of centuries from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer to take India to a mammoth total. Mohammed Shami then took 7/57 to help India win the match by 70 runs as the Kiwis scored 327.

The Men in Blue now await the second finalists which will be decided after the South Africa vs Australia match in Kolkata. Meanwhile, Akhtar taking to his YouTube channel has praised the Indian cricket team for making it to the semi-final. He said that the teams deserved to be in the final given how they have played so far in the tournament. After their win against the Kiwis, India is now unbeaten in 10 games in this World Cup so far.

“India thoroughly deserves to be in the final, if you look at their batting, bowling, fielding, and even their bench strength, if this team doesn’t deserve to reach the final then which team does?” Shoaib Akhtar said on his YouTube channel.

India Brutally Hammered New Zealand: Shoaib Akhtar

He further said that the Indian batters hammered the Kiwi’s bowlers with a special mention to Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer.

“India again brutally hammered New Zealand, all credit goes to Rohit Sharma as a captain. He hammers bowlers in the opening overs. If Gill stayed on the pitch he could have completed his ton. Shreyas Iyer is an amazing talent he is a guy who takes away a lot of pressure from the senior players. India deserves to be in the final” Shoaib said further.

He concluded by picking Australia as the second finalists as they backed the Men in Yellow to beat the Proteas in the second semi-final in Kolkata.

“I feel Australia will reach the final, South Africa has only one chance to bat first and put up a total of 350 runs,” Akhtar concluded.

IND vs NZ: "Hope They Will Shut Up"- Sunil Gavaskar Blasts Foreign Media Over Pitch-Change Controversy

Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar has targeted a foreign media outlet for spreading rumors of pitch change after India defeated New Zealand in the first semi-final in Mumbai by 70 runs. In the process, India made it to a World Cup final for the first time in 12 years.

Before the IND vs NZ semi-final game in Mumbai, foreign media claimed that the pitch was changed on behalf of the Indian team management who asked for a slower track. However, the way the match panned out with over 700 runs being scored made Sunil Gavaskar keep his point about doctored pitch.

Nonsense: Sunil Gavaskar On Pitch Criticism

“This has been such a good pitch to bat on. We’ve had nearly 730 runs scored here. All those morons who were talking about the pitch being changed and that it would do the Indian bowlers a favour, I hope they will just shut up. Stop taking potshots at India just because it helps you get eyeballs. Nonsense” said Gavaskar on Star Sports.

He further said that even if the pitch was changed it was changed before the game and both the teams played on the same surface throughout the game. According to him, it was a good wicket and both teams played good cricket.

“Even if the pitch was changed, it was there before the toss for both the teams. It wasn’t changed in the mid-innings. It wasn’t changed after the toss was done. The pitch was the same for both teams. You are a good enough team, you play on that pitch and you win. And India has done that. So stop talking about pitches. Already they’re talking about the pitch in Ahmedabad [the venue for the final]. The second semi-final hasn’t even taken place, you’re talking about the pitch being changed in Ahmedabad,” Gavaskar added.

The ICC previously in a statement that the ICC independent consultant was made aware of the change before the match.

“Changes to planned pitch rotations are common towards the end of an event of this length and has already happened a couple of times. This change was made on the recommendation of the venue curator in conjunction with our host. The ICC independent pitch consultant was apprised of the change and has no reason to believe the pitch won’t play well,” ICC stated as per ESPNcricinfo.

India scored 397/4 on the back of centuries from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer after a bright start from skipper Rohit Sharma. New Zealand fought hard in the chase with Daryl Mitchell scoring 134 and sharing an 181-run stand with Kane Williamson (69)to keep Indian fans on the edge. Ultimately India won the match by 70 runs after Mohammed Shami picked up 7/57.

India National Cricket Team pacer Mohammed Shami was at his sensational best in the first semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against Kane Williamson-led New Zealand National Cricket Team at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, November 15.

Shami single-handedly destroyed the strong Kiwi batting unit and won the match for India. The performance pulled off by Mohammed Shami will go down in the history books as it helped India secure a spot in the final of the marquee tournament.

Shami registered exceptional figures of 9.5-0-57-7 against the Black Caps and became the fastest-ever bowler to bag 50 wickets in ODI World Cups. This was also the best bowling figures for India in the history of ODI cricket.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami dismissed the centurion Daryl Mitchell on the second ball of the 46th over to complete his third fifer in the ongoing edition of the World Cup.

With the wicket of Mitchell, he also secured the win for India and was delighted to achieve the milestone. Mohammed Shami once again pulled off a hilarious ‘ball on the head’ celebration for the bowling coach Paras Mhambrey.

I was waiting for my turn, I wasn’t playing much white ball cricket – Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami was awarded Player of the Match and speaking after the game, he said that he was eagerly waiting for his opportunity to deliver for India. He said:

“I was waiting for my turn. I wasn’t playing much white ball cricket. I had in mind, that we talk about a lot of things like yorkers and slower balls. I tried to take wickets with the new ball. I try to take as many as I can with the new ball.”

Even though Mohammed Shami pulled off a historic performance, all was not well for him on the field as he dropped a catch of Kane Williamson at a crucial moment in the game. Talking about that, Mohammed Shami said that he felt really bad about the dropped chance. He elaborated:

“I dropped the catch of Kane. I felt bad. I tried to take pace off. They were playing their shots. So, I took a chance. The wicket was good. There was the fear of dew. The grass was cut off nicely. The runs were enough. Had dew come in, things could have been bad. The slower balls might not have worked. I feel amazing. This is a huge platform. We lost in the semis in the 2015 and the 2019 WC. Looking to cash in with the chance I have been given. We don’t know when all of us will get a chance like this again.”

Legendary England football captain David Beckham said that seeing Virat Kohli hit his 50th ODI century in the semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 was a great pleasure for him.

Beckham was among the numerous celebrities present at the iconic Wankhede Stadium for the India vs New Zealand semi-final clash of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Kohli hit a marvelous century in the match against the Black Caps in front of his hero Sachin Tendulkar. He scored 117 runs off 113 balls, with 9 fours and 2 sixes, before getting dismissed by Tim Southee. With this ton, he broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most ODI tons.

The former Manchester United midfielder was speaking to Star Sports after Virat Kohli’s ton and Beckham said that he was delighted to witness a historic innings. He elaborated:

“Well, I’d like to say I had something to do with it (the record), but I didn’t. It’s a great pleasure to be here at this stadium and see a moment of history. I spoke to Sachin earlier and I know what he’s achieved at this stadium and in this sport and to see Virat do that was special. It’s my first time in India and it couldn’t have been better.”

“It’s first game at the World Cup and what a time to be here. I’ve been to some of the best stadiums in the world. And coming in here today, from the start, you knew it was something special.”

All this feels like a dream – Virat Kohli

Speaking during the mid-innings break, Virat Kohli said that everything feels like a dream for him. He elaborated:

“I said in Kolkata, the great man (Sachin Tendulkar) just congratulated me. All this feels like a dream, too good to be true. Feels surreal for me. Again a big game today, I had to play the role I have played throughout the tournament so that the guys around me can go and express themselves. Just glad everything came together so nicely and we put up a great total on the board as well.”

Virat Kohli further spoke about the unreal consistency he has maintained throughout his career. He said:

“The most important thing is to make my team win and whatever it takes to do that I am ready to do that. Whether running singles and doubles, hitting boundaries… whatever the team wants me to do. I have been given a role this tournament and I have been trying to play that to the best of my abilities – try to dig deep and bat long so the guys around me can play around me and have that confidence in the later overs where I can dominate with the bat as well.”

The duo of Mohammed Shami and KL Rahul was superb with the ball and behind the stumps in the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023. The keeper-batter and the pacer were spot-on with his skills with the gloves at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

KL Rahul put a staggering effort behind the stumps that helped India draw the first blood. He put in a Superman dive to take the catch of Devon Conway and help his team get off the flying start in the defence of 398 runs in semi-fina at Mumbai.

During the first ball of the 6th over, Mohammed Shami bowled a round-the-wicket delivery to which Devon Conway tried to play the drive. He got the edge and it seemed that it was a first slip catch. But KL Rahul had other ideas.

KL Rahul leaped to his left and plucked a superb low catch. He had to go for it because the slip fielder had no chance. The keeper-batter made sure that he grabbed it and became the contender for the gold medal. Here’s the video:

Devon Conway scored just 13 runs and after his wicket, Mohammed Shami removed Rachin Ravindra as well. The fast bowler looked a class apart in the game and helped India win the game by 90 runs and go into the final of the tournament.

After removing both the openers, Mohammed Shami brought India back into the game when the partnership between Daryl Mitchell and Kane Williamson was taking place. The fast bowler produced a magnificent spell of fast bowling and helped India win.

Mohammed Shami picked 7 wickets and returned with the figures of 7/57. He also became the leading wicket-taker in the tournament. His spell helped India end the New Zealand jinx and book their berth for the final.

Mohammed Shami talked about his performance and expressed his delight, saying that he tried to take wickets with the new ball. He said that it’s a huge platform for the team as they lost the last two World Cups. He explained:

“I was waiting for my turn. I wasn’t playing much white ball cricket. I had in mind, that we talk about a lot of things like yorkers and slower balls. I tried to take wickets with the new ball. The 1st semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 saw the high-octane clash between Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Kane Williamson-led New Zealand National Cricket Team at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, November 15.

India National Cricket Team finished the league stage at the No.1 position with 18 points as they won 9 matches on the trot. New Zealand National Cricket Team, on the other hand, finished the group stage at the No.4 spot with 10 points as they won 5 matches.

Meanwhile, India National Cricket Team won the toss and opted to bat first in the match. The Men In Blue and the Black Caps fielded the same playing XI from their previous matches.

Batting first, Rohit Sharma once again provided India with a flying start. He showed sheer class and pushed New Zealand on the backfoot with his 47-run knock. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli capitalized on the start provided by the Indian captain and played stupendous innings.

Shubman Gill (80*) got retired hurt and wasn’t able to hit a century. However, Virat Kohli (117) and Shreyas Iyer (105) smashed sensational centuries. Kohli created history with his knock as this was his 50th ODI ton. In the end, KL Rahul (39) provided a finishing touch to help India post a mammoth total of 397/4 on the board.

Defending the target, ‘Sensational’ Mohammed Shami dismissed the New Zealand openers Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway to provide India with a terrific start.

However, after that, Daryl Mitchell and Kane Williamson showcased a batting masterclass and played remarkable innings. Together they added an outstanding 181 runs in 149 balls.

When India were in the backfoot, Rohit Sharma once again brought Shami back in and the pacer repaid the faith of his skipper. He dismissed the star batsman Kane Williamson (69) to provide a crucial breakthrough to India.

After that, Daryl Mitchell (134) fought a remarkable battle, but he didn’t get the much-needed support from the other end. He was also dismissed by Shami.

In the end, the Black Caps were bundled out for 327 in 48.5 overs, with Mohammed Shami finishing things off for India. Shami registered exceptional figures of 9.5-0-57-7. Also, India won the match by a good margin of 70 runs to secure a place in the final of the competition.

Mitchell completed his ton off just 85 balls against India and became the second batsman after Sourav Ganguly to hit two hundreds against the same team in a World Cup edition. Ganguly did that in the 2003 World Cup against Kenya.

Also, Mitchell now holds the record for most sixes by a New Zealand batter in a single edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup.

Most sixes for New Zealand in a World Cup edition:

18* – Daryl Mitchell (2023)

17 – Brendon McCullum (2015)

17 – Rachin Ravindra (2023)

16 – Martin Guptill (2015)

14 – Ross Taylor (2011)

At the time of writing, Daryl Mitchell was fighting against India despite battling cramps and the Black Caps were at 257/4 after 39 overs.

Shreyas Iyer set the Wankhede Stadium Stadium on fire in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 match against New Zealand. The first semi-final of the tournament saw India batting first and putting a gigantic total of 397 runs on the board.

Shreyas Iyer was one of the main architects behind it as he played a sensational inning and made sure he entertained his home crowd. The batter came out with an attacking mindset and put pressure on the opposition right from the start.

Shreyas Iyer smashed bowlers all over the park and exhibited staggering hitting. He smashed the fastest century in the history of the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023 as he registered his ton in just 67 balls. This was his 4th consecutive fifty-plus score in the tournament.

As Shreyas Iyer slammed a century and was celebrating it, more than him one individual caught the attention of many. Skipper Rohit Sharma from the dressing was seen imitating his celebration. Here’s the video:

Shreyas ended with the knock of 105 runs off 70 balls and had a strike rate of 150. He slammed 4 fours and 8 sixes in his innings and made sure his team reached close to 400.

IND vs NZ:  Lot of credit has to go to Shreyas Iyer – Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli, who smashed his 50th ton and scored 117 runs, credited Shreyas Iyer for taking the team close to 400. He said that the batter batted freely and also lauded Rohit Sharma (47), Shubman Gill (80*), and KL Rahul (39*) for their knocks. He explained:

“In a big game you are happy with anything over 330-340. To get close to 400 is amazing. Lot of credit has to go to Shreyas the way he came and batted freely.. Shubman and Rohit at the top, KL finishing with the flurry… I think everyone did their roles to perfection and did the job beautifully for the team. A perfect batting performance but just one half of the game is done. Still got to go out there and be professional with the ball and do the things we have done in the tournament so far.”

The game so far hangs balanced. India took two early wickets but Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell are batting staggeringly well and are keeping their team in the hunt.

Virat Kohli slammed his 8th fifty-plus score in the 10 innings that he has played in the ICC World Cup 2023 so far. The batter has timed the ball to perfection and made sure that his side is in the dominant position in the high-pressure game against New Zealand in Mumbai.

Virat Kohli is the leading run-getter in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. He has scored over 675 runs and has a breathtaking average of over 111 in the 10 games. He has smashed 6 half-centuries and 3 tons so far in the tournament.

With his ton, Virat Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most ODI centuries as well. The batter now has 50 tons to his name. This knock of his would be rated highly as he slammed it in the knockout game. This is also his highest score in the semi-finals of the World Cup.

IND vs NZ: Some people were calling for the head of Kohli when he went through tough times – Vivian Richards on Virat Kohli

Vivian Richards, who is doing the commentator in the ongoing game, lauded Virat Kohli for his stupendous innings. He highlighted how some people were over him when he had a bad patch. He said:

“Some people were calling for the head of Kohli when he went through tough times, common sense didn’t prevail.”

Virat Kohli would be hoping to continue till the end and take the team to the big total in the must-win game.

Indian cricket team have faced a massive blow as Shubman Gill retired hurt in the ongoing semi-final against New Zealand. The first knockout game of the ICC World 2023 is currently taking place at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Shubman Gill looked in great touch and is one of the main reasons behind India being in the dominant position in the ongoing game against New Zealand. He first played second fiddle to Rohit Sharma, who blasted a brutal 47-run knock to put his team in the driver’s seat.

Once Rohit Sharma was back in the hut, Shubman Gill took charge and made sure that India kept the run rate high. The No.1 ODI batter played some eye-catching shots and timed the ball to perfection. His stupendous batting brought a sense of calm in the dressing room and made everyone applaud him.

Shubman Gill stepped up on the big occasion as he slammed a vital half-century for the team in the semi-final. He was batting at 79 runs off 65 balls with the help of 8 fours and 3 sixes. However, he felt harsh cramps in his legs and was down.

As Shubman Gill was down, physios ran out to check on him. But he looked in immense pain and couldn’t continue. He walked off the field while limping. India would be hoping that the batter recovers fast and comes out to bat once again.

IND vs NZ Match Preview– ICC World Cup 2023, Semi-Final 1

The IND vs NZ semi-final 1 of the ICC World Cup 2023 will be played in Mumbai on October 15. The Men in Blue topped the points table while the Kiwis finished fourth on the table after the league stage. India and New Zealand face each other for the second time in the 50-over World Cup semi-finals after the Kiwis defeated India in the last World Cup semi-final.

Thus this game is very much a rematch of the 2019 semi-final between the two teams with India well aware of the threat of the Kiwis. India defeated the Netherlands by 160 runs in their last league match in Bengaluru. That was also the last league match of the World Cup. India piled up 410/4 with Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli al scoring fifties. Shreyas Iyer (128*) and KL Rahul (102*) scored centuries. The Dutch were bundled out for 250 with the likes of Bumrah, Siraj, Kuldeep, and Jadeja picking two wickets each. Kohli and Rohit picked one each.

New Zealand also won their last league match against Sri Lanka to qualify for the semi-finals. They won their first four games on the trot. Then they went on a four-match losing streak starting with the India game. They were in a must-win situation heading into the game against Sri Lanka after losing their previous match against Pakistan. A win helped them secure their spot in the semi-finals for the third consecutive World Cup.

New Zealand have been India’s nemesis in ICC tournaments. This was the first time in 20 years that the Kiwis lost to India in an ICC event. Previously they beat India in the World Cup 2019 semi-final. the T20 2021 World Cup and the 2021 WTC final in recent times. They also beat them in the 2007 and 2016 T20 World Cup games.

Thus the Indian team knows very well what it is to play against the Kiwis in a big semi-final. Playing at home in known conditions will definitely give them the edge in the contest.

Rohit Sharma - Kane Williamson

Rohit Sharma looked in ecstatic touch in the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023 against New Zealand. The Indian skipper gave his team a rollicking start at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where he won the toss and opted to bat first.

Rohit Sharma came out all guns blazing and made a statement right from the first over. The opening batter took the attack to the Kiwi bowlers and made sure that he took his side off the flyer in the high-pressure semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023.

Rohit Sharma played some blistering strokes and that brought a sense of calm in the Indian dressing room. With the way he was batting, it seemed that he would end with a big score. But he was undone by the brilliance of Kane Williamson in the field.

Rohit Sharma tried to smash Tim Southee out of the park. It was a slower delivery from him and the Indian skipper wanted to drill it down the ground. However, he couldn’t get the long handle to slam it big. The ball went too high and it seemed it would land in no man’s land.

But Kane Williamson ran back from mid-off and got under it to take a superb catch. The New Zealand skipper was back-pedalling and he controlled it beautifully to see the back of the dangerous Rohit Sharma.

Mohammad Ashraful On Virat Kohli

Former Bangladesh skipper Mohammad Ashraful has backed India’s modern-day batting legend Virat Kohli to achieve an iconic milestone by getting to his 50th ODI century in the ICC Cricket World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. India will be facing the Kiwis in the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Wednesday at the historic Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.

Virat Kohli’s consistency and his brilliant performance throughout the 2023 World Cup, have often steered the Men in Blue out of challenging situations and led them to victory. Kohli recently equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s world record of 49 ODI centuries, leaving him on the verge of surpassing the ‘GOD’.

Mohammad Ashraful praised Virat Kohli’s performances and has shown faith in Kohli’s ability. He believes that after missing a century against the Kiwis by just five runs in the league stage match, the Indian batting maestro might get to the awaited milestone in the semi-final clash. “Virat missed out on two centuries; everyone in the team is in good form. In every game, Rohit is giving a firing start, and Iyer and Rahul are in good form. So, I think we may see Virat’s 50th hundred,” Ashraful told ANI.

Mohammad Ashraful Backs New Zealand To Win The Semi-Final

Mohammad Ashraful backs New Zealand to defeat India even after predicting Virat Kohli’s century. New Zealand was able to emerge victorious against India in the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. India will be looking to avenge the defeat that they suffered against the Kiwis.

“I feel that New Zealand can beat India, so it won’t be easy. India is playing good cricket, and we are hoping that we will see good cricket,” Ashraful added. India will be the favourites to win the match in front of the home crowd but the Kiwis won’t be an easy target and the previous record between these two in ICC events heavily inclines towards the Blackcaps.

The Men In Blue have always struggled against the Blackcaps in ICC events. The win they got in the league stage was the first one since 2003 in ICC events which shows India’s struggle against New Zealand in ICC tournaments. India lost the semi-finals in the 2019 World Cup against New Zealand which was a low-scoring thriller where New Zealand was successful in defending a meagre total of 239.

Former New Zealand fast-bowler Mitchell McClenaghan has come up with an interesting take on the pitch controversy ahead of the World Cup semifinal between India and New Zealand.

The high-flying hosts and the Black Caps will clash in the first semifinal, a rematch of last edition’s semifinal. The huge clash is set to be played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. And ahead of the match, the pitch has become a major talking point. According to reports, the BCCI has decided to change the playing surface at the last moment to suit Team India.

British news outlet The Daily Mail has reported that the ICC and the BCCI had agreed that the match will be played on the pitch. The match was reportedly set to be played on pitch No.7 which has not been used in the World Cup so far. However, the BCCI has decided to conduct the match on pitch No.6 which has already been used for two league games.

“But a WhatsApp message circulated on Tuesday to a group of more than 50 BCCI and ICC officials confirmed that the first semi-final had been moved to pitch No. 6, which has already staged games between England and South Africa, plus India and Sri Lanka,” the Mail said.

Mitchell McClenaghan on pitch controversy:

Many believe that the BCCI took this step to favor India’s spinners and neutralize the threat of New Zealand pacers. However, former Black Caps star Mitchell McClenaghan suggests that the BCCI’s decision could, in fact, play into the hands of New Zealand.

He took to X to state that the wicket will suit his country as it will take India’s in-form pacers out of the game. He also backed left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner to be the best performer with the ball, writing: “Wickets playing right into New Zealanders hands, India’s seamers have been outstanding and this will take them out of the game.”

Team India are eyeing their third World Cup title and first since 2011. India have also not made it to the final since 2011 and will be desperate to do it in the ongoing tournament.

Suresh Raina On New Zealand

Former India cricketer Suresh Raina heaped praise on New Zealand youngster Rachin Ravindra, saying that the 23-year-old has shown a striking ability similar to that of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. Ravindra is currently third on the charts of leading run-getters in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Indian soil. The left-hander has amassed 565 runs in nine innings at an average of 70.62 with three centuries and two half-centuries to his name.

The left-handed Rachin scored hundreds against the likes of England, Australia, and Pakistan to show his talent with the bat in hand. Suresh Raina lauded the left-handed batter ahead of New Zealand’s semi-final clash against India on November 15 at the historic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

“Ravindra is a local boy from Bangalore and has been hitting the ball like Rohit Sharma and has been changing the course of the game,” Raina was quoted as saying on India Today’s ‘Battle of Champions’ show.

New Zealand opener Devon Conway started his ICC Cricket World Cup campaign with a bang, scoring 152 against England in the tournament opener. However, after that Conway is struggling with the bat as he has failed to score a single half-century after his terrific innings against the defending champions.

New Zealand’s Devon Conway Can Also Be A Huge Threat For India

Suresh Raina showed belief in his CSK teammate’s ability and said that Conway can score big runs in important matches. In the IPL 2023 final, Devon Conway was the top run-getter for CSK in the finals and his innings helped CSK clinch their fifth IPL title by beating Gujrat Titans in the finals.

“He is a big match-winner and we have seen that in the IPL. We saw that he scored a hundred against England. He looks solid and plays all around the ground and he plays spin really well and reads the situation well. He hasn’t been scoring, but has always done well in big games,” he added.

In nine matches, Devon Conway has amassed 359 runs at a decent average of 44.87 and a strike rate of 102.27. New Zealand batters have been in really good form and with skipper Kane Williamson back in the squad, the Kiwis will be ready to take on the Men In Blue and might defeat them again in the Semi-Finals for the second consecutive time. However, India is in really dominating form in this World Cup and they will be looking to avenge their semi-final loss against the Blackcaps in the 2019 World Cup.

New Zealand Playing 11 vs India – ICC World Cup 2023, Semi-Final 1

New Zealand goes face to face with India in the first semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023 in Mumbai. The Kiwis won their last match against Sri Lanka to qualify for the semis. They have had an up-and-down tournament through the league stage.

Cricket experts believe that the Kiwis lack momentum heading into this big semi-final despite winning their last game against Sri Lanka in emphatic fashion. NZ won their first four games and then lost their next four games before picking up a crucial win against the Lankans.

The Kiwis lost to Australia by a close margin of five runs and then also lost against Pakistan despite scoring over 400 runs with the bat. Against South Africa, they suffered a 190-run loss as they were bundled out for 167 chasing a mammoth 358.

They have looked at two different sides when they have won and lost games respectively. The advantage they have over India is the fact that they have defeated the Men in Blue in the previous semi-final and the bowlers are well aware of the weakness of the Indian batters.

The match will be played in Mumbai, a track that has assisted the pacers in the first 10 overs as India proved in the match against Sri Lanka. For The Kiwis to win the game they need to put early pressure on the Indian batters inside the first powerplay.

Talking about the predicted playing XI, the only change that is possible in this match is James Neesham being replaced by Mark Cahampam in this game as the latter did not have a good game against Sri Lanka.

Glenn Phillips

Phillips can bat at six. He scored 17 off 10 balls against Sri Lanka but has played a few lovely cameos. He has taken some crucial wickets in the tournament and is a brilliant fielder to boot. He is also the second-spinner in the side.

James Neesham

Neesham will bat at seven. He has played just three games and scored 58 runs at a strike rate of 130. He almost won the match for the Kiwis against the Aussies. Neesham was a part of the XI that played the semi-final semi-final against India.

Mitchell Santner

Santner will slot in at eight. He has taken 16 wickets from nine games at an average of 24.88 the most by a Kiwi bowler in the tournament so far. He has also played a few handy knocks down the order.

IND vs NZ Weather Report Live Today And Pitch Report Of Mumbai Stadium, ICC World Cup 2023, Semi-Final 1

Mumbai is all set to host the IND vs NZ ICC World Cup semi-final on Wednesday, November 15. The match starts at 2 pm IST. Team India is the only unbeaten team in the tournament so far having won all their nine league games.

India defeated the Netherlands by 160 in the previous game. Their top and middle-order got runs as they piled up 410/4 and then bowled out the Dutch for 250. It was yet another comprehensive performance from the Indian bowling attack. Four Indian bowlers are among the top wicket-takers in the tournament and cumulatively the Indian bowling group has picked up 75 wickets in the tournament. This has been the massive difference when it comes to other teams.

The Kiwis also had a great start to their tournament, winning their first four games Starting with the India game, they lost their next four before winning their last game against Sri Lanka to book a spot in the playoffs. The Kiwis have had the upper hand over India in World Cups, especially in knockout games.

India lost the previous World Cup semi-final also to New Zealand. This time around the team should be more well prepared for the game. Many of the players who played in the last World Cup are also a part of this World Cup. Playing at home, they are very well aware of the conditions and also the strengths of the opposition.

Mumbai has hosted four games so far and all of them have been high-scoring ones. The margin of victories has proved that this is a good batting wicket. Even Afghanistan in their match against Australia posted 291/5 batting first but unfortunately lost the game.

As said earlier, all the matches played in Mumbai have been high-scoring games. The IND vs NZ is also expected to be a high-scoring contest with big-hitters on both sides. Top batters from both teams will play the match and plenty of runs are in store. There is also something in it for the bowlers as the Indian bowlers proved against Sri Lanka.

Talking about the weather conditions, the temperature in the afternoon will be around 36 degrees with hazy sunshine. By the evening, the conditions will clear out and the temperatures will drop to 29 degrees. There is no chance of rain. However, as we have seen throughout the World Cup, dew will play an important role in the match. The two sides have been keen on batting first and putting the runs on the board.

IND vs NZ Match Prediction- Who Will Win Today ODI Match? ICC World Cup 2023 Semi-Final 1

The IND vs NZ semi-final 1 of the ICC World Cup 2023 will be played in Mumbai on October 15, Wednesday. The match starts at 2 pm IST. This is in many ways a rematch of the 2019 World Cup semi-final between India and New Zealand. The Kiwis beat India in that game.

This is the second time the two teams are facing each other in this World Cup. India won the previous IND vs NZ match in Dharamsala by four wickets in the league stage. However, the stakes are a lot higher in this game as it’s the semi-final and a knockout game at that.

India are on a nine-match winning streak. They defeated the Netherlands by 160 runs and are the only unbeaten team in this World Cup so far. However, the Indian team has been guilty of losing the previous two semi-finals of the World Cup and is looking to avoid a third defeat. Most of the players who played in the 2019 semi-final are also a part of this team.

New Zealand, on the other hand, is heading into this game after securing a spot in the semi-finals having beaten Sri Lanka in their last game. Their loss to Pakistan made things a little tricky but the Kiwis ensured they won the match by a big margin and in the process boosted their NRR. Pakistan’s loss to England in their last league game meant that Kiwis became the fourth team to make the semis.

IND vs NZ contests in World Cups have been riveting in the past. Memories would go back to the 2019 semi-final loss for every Indian fan. Thus the fans are hopeful that India will turn things around this time especially playing at home. The head-to-head in ODIs between the two teams is pretty even with India winning 59 matches and New Zealand 50.

However, the Kiwis have the edge over India in World Cups, especially in knockout games. They have a 5-4 head-to-head ratio in World Cups. The top players from both teams would like to make an impact in the big game.

India Playing 11 vs New Zealand – ICC World Cup 2023, Semi-Final 1

India take on New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023 in Mumbai on November 15. This is a rematch of the two teams from the 2019 World Cup semi-final in many ways. The Men in Blue have already defeated the Kiwis earlier in the tournament.

India are on a nine-match winning streak and can make it to 10 wins on the trot if they beat the Kiwis in Mumbai. They also have an opportunity to avenge their 2019 semi-final defeat against the same team.

India won their previous game against the Netherlands on November 12. They scored 410/5 with all their batters getting runs. The Indian bowlers then bowled out the Dutch for 250 winning the game by 160 runs.

Heading into this game, the Indian team are almost the favorite to win the contest. Former cricket experts are saying that this is India’s best chance to win their third World Cup at home and end their decade-long trophy drought.

The Men in Blue are also under pressure as well. Previously they lost in back-to-back semi-finals in 2015 and 2019. With the World Cup at home, there is an added anticipation from the players that they will win against the Kiwis and advance through to the final and hopefully bring the cup home.

Cricket experts are also saying that several players from this Indian team are at the peak of their careers at the moment and hence the expectations from the fans make complete sense. The Indian team have played the same side since the league match against New Zealand in Dharamsala. With Hardik Pandya out of the tournament, they are expected to stick with the same side.

IND vs NZ Match Preview– ICC World Cup 2023, Semi-Final 1

India and New Zealand face off each other in the first semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023 in Mumbai on November 15, Wednesday. This is in many ways a rematch of the 2019 World Cup semi-final when the Kiwis beat the Men in Blue to knock them out of the semi-final.

Team India are on a nine-match winning run but has failed to cross the semi-final hurdle in the last two editions of the tournament. They lost to Australia in 2015 and the Kiwis in 2019. They have a big chance at home now to end the trend and qualify for the final.

The team had a good hit out against Netherlands scoring 410 runs with the bat. The batting order had a nice hit-out session as well with Rohit, Gill, and Kohli scoring fifties and KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer notching up centuries. The bowling attack had another good day with the pacers sharing the wickets between themselves. Mohammed Shami had a wicketless spell but still bowled well.

New Zealand won their last match against Sri Lanka to set up the IND vs NZ semi-final clash in Mumbai. They won their first four games on the trot. Starting with the loss against India, they lost their next four games before a win against SL helped them cement their spot in the semis.

Rachin Ravindra has been the stand-out player from the Kiwis so far. He has scored 565 runs in nine games at an average of 70.62 and has been the key player at the top for the Kiwis. With the ball, Mitchell Santner is the top wicket-taker with 16 wickets at an average of 24.88. He will have a role to play in the semi-final.

Thus the stage is set up in Mumbai for another big game with the venue being a high-scoring one. Something similar should be on the cards once again.

IND vs NZ Match Preview– ICC World Cup 2023, Semi-Final 1

India

Since the injury to Hardik Pandya in the Bangladesh game, India has been playing with the same playing combination since the New Zealand game. They have been consistent in doing that and the inclusion of Mohammed Shami has turned out to be the real deal for India.

The team is expected to perform in this rich vein of form and cricket experts have been very vocal about the fact that this Indian team has no weaklings at the moment. It is all about holding your nerve and performing to the best of your ability in the semi-final.

India Squad

Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishan Kishan, Prasidh Krishna, Suryakumar Yadav

New Zealand

New Zealand started with four consecutive wins but lost their track as they lost their next four games. A good win against Sri Lanka helped them cement a spot in the semi-final. It was almost a perfect game with their bowlers getting the opposition out under 200 and then their batters chasing the target down in less than 25 overs.

The injury and absence of Kane Williamson hurt the Kiwis in the matches that they lost. However, he has scored runs in the matches that he has played and his leadership will be tested in the semi-final against India. Given India’s inclination to bat first, the Kiwi new-ball bowlers will be key to picking up quick wickets like they did in the last semi-final.

The Wankhede pitch aided the pacers in the first 20 overs as the Indian bowlers proved in the match against Sri Lanka. The battle between the Kiwi pacers and the Indian top order will almost decide the result of the game.

New Zealand Squad

Kane Williamson (c), Trent Boult, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitch Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Will Young

The BCCI has denied allegations of defying rules and changing pitches to suit Team India in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Ahead of the highly-anticipated semifinal clash between India and New Zealand, a huge controversy has taken center stage.

The first semifinal of the ongoing World Cup is scheduled to be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. British news outlet The Daily Mail has reported that the BCCI has changed the pitch for the upcoming semifinal without the permission of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The report has also stated that India would do the same if they qualify for the final too.

According to the rules, the pitches for an ICC event are prepared under the supervision of the governing body’s consultant who agrees in advance with the home board which of the numbered strips on the square will be used for each game. The BCCI, however, has been accused of flouting the rules and not consulting ICC consultant Andy Atkinson during the ongoing World Cup.

BCCI responds to pitch-switch charges:

The BCCI and the ICC had previously agreed that the semifinal would take place on surface No 7 which is a fresh pitch. However, the Indian cricket board has reportedly ignored the agreement and has decided to conduct the game on pitch No 6 which has already been used twice in the course of the competition.

With the heat firmly on the BCCI, the board has responded, denying any wrongdoings. The news outlet quoted a BCCI spokesperson as saying:

“The ICC independent pitch consultant works with the host and venues on their proposed pitch allocations and this process is ongoing throughout an event of this length and nature.”

Before being accused of changing the pitch, the India team-management was also accused of instructing the curators to shave off most of the grass on the pitch at the Wankhede Stadium. According to The Indian Express, the Indian team had informed the Wankhede curator about their preference after the game against the Netherlands in Bengaluru.

“The BCCI local curators have formed a local organizing group to look after pitches across the country during the World Cup. The International Cricket Council (ICC) also sent its own experts to various venues for each game,” the Indian Express reported.

“It won’t be a turner but the team had asked for a slow pitch. It was the main reason we shaved off the grass,” a source said.
