  • Haris Rauf removed Mushfiqur Rahim.

  • Haris Rauf wasted one review as well.

Haris Rauf was at the receiving end of good scolding by skipper Babar Azam during the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 match. The 31st match of the tournament is taking place between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Pakistan were asked to field first and they were off the flyer as Shaheen Afridi struck twice early. Haris Rauf supported him well as he removed veteran Mushfiqur Rahim for just 5 runs and made sure that his side was off the dream start in a must-win encounter for them.

However, he wasted the review for his team as he was carried away by the things. It happened during the 3rd ball of the 8th over when Haris Rauf bowled a length delivery on off-stump. The ball nipped back in and hit Mahmudullah high on the pad. The pacer appealed loudly but the umpire looked unfazed.

Haris Rauf convinced his skipper to take a review but DRS showed that the ball was high and was missing the stumps. As Pakistan lost a review, the fast bowler was scolded by skipper Babar Azam, who was seen saying him in agony.

Mahmudullah has batted well after Bangladesh lost quick wickets. He along with Litton Das (45) bailed the team out of trouble and put them in a good position. Haris Rauf on the other hand has been bowling well and would be looking to chip in with a few more wickets and put his team in top.

PAK vs BAN: Clash vs Bangladesh – a do-it-die encounter for Pakistan

The ongoing match against Bangladesh is a do-or-die encounter for Pakistan. They are having a torrid time in the World Cup 2023 and are reeling 7th on the points table. They are on the verge of elimination as they have lost 4 games out of the 6 they have played.

Pakistan started the tournament on high with two back-to-back wins against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka. However, after that, they faced disappointing losses against India, Australia, Afghanistan and South Africa. If they lose today’s game against Bangladesh, it would be curtains for them in the World Cup.
