Pakistan won their 3rd game of the ICC World Cup 2023.
PAK vs BAN, which was Match 31 of the ICC World Cup 2023, took place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The game saw Pakistan registering a win after four consecutive losses as they thumped Bangladesh by 7 wickets to bag their third win of the tournament.
Shaheen Afridi took Pakistan off the dream start as he picked two wickets in his first two overs. Bangladesh were left tottering at 23/3. But veterans Litton Das (45) and Mahmudullah (56) joined hands together and added a vital stand to bring their team back into the game.
But Pakistan kept chipping in with regular wickets that put Bangladesh under immense pressure. Shakib Al Hasan managed 43 runs whereas Mehidy Hasan Miraz (25) supported him well. Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jr picked three wickets each whereas Haris Rauf bagged two scalps. Based on the staggering effort they bundled out the opposition for just 204 runs.
Pakistan were off the dream start with the bat as Abdullah Shafique (68) and Fakhar Zaman (81) added 128 runs for the opening partnership. After that Mohammad Rizwan (26*) and Iftikhar Ahmed (17*) hit some lusty blows at the end that powered the team to the seven-wicket victory in Kolkata.
