The 29-year-old Bangladesh National Cricket Team batsman Litton Das has returned to his home country in the middle of the ICC World Cup 2023. The development was confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s media and communications manager, Rabeed Imam.
The Bangla Tigers have underperformed in the ongoing edition of the ICC World Cup and have faced losses in 6 out of 7 matches. They have failed as a unit and are in the 9th position on the points table.
Shakib Al Hasan & Co. were expected to do well in the marquee tournament considering the World Cup was held in the sub-continent and the side had players in the team who are good in these conditions. However, they have failed as a unit and have become the first team to be knocked out of the competition.
Litton Das Returns To Bangladesh
In the middle of the competition, Litton Das decided to return to Bangladesh due to a family emergency. The Bangladesh squad has got a good break as their next match is on November 6 against Sri Lanka at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and Litton Das is expected to rejoin the team before the fixture.
Speaking to The Daily Star, Bangladesh team manager Rabeed Imam confirmed that Litton Das will rejoin the team ahead of the training session on November 3.
“Due to his family emergency, Liton took a leave and will join the team ahead of the teams’ training session scheduled on November 3 in Delhi,” said Rabeed, as quoted by The Daily Star.
As per the reports in The Daily Star, Litton and his wife are expecting their first child. Notably, this is not the first time a Bangladesh player has flown back home as earlier the skipper of the side Shakib Al Hasan had traveled back to his home country. Shakib Al Hasan went back home to work with his childhood mentor Nazmul Abedeen Fahim and rejoined the team soon.
