Ahmedabad is all set to host the India vs Australia World Cup final on Sunday, November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The match starts at 2 pm with reportedly the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also to be present watching the final from the stadium.

The 2023 World Cup between India and Australia is in many ways a rematch of the 2003 World Cup final. Interestingly enough, Australia won 10 matches on the trot leading up to the 2003 final and won it eventually. This time around, India have won 10 matches on the trot while the Aussies have won eight on the trot heading into the final. Australia won their third World Cup title 20 years ago, India are gunning for their third 20 years down the line.

The Aussies defeated the Proteas in a closely contested game in Kolkata. They chased down the 213 required to win with 13 balls to spare and won the match by three wickets. India, on the other hand, defeated the Kiwis who have been their nemesis in ICC tournaments to set up a date with Australia.

While India have been on their best run in World Cups, the Aussies are peaking at the right time since losing the first couple of games. They were in a spot of bother losing quick wickets in the middle overs but then Jos Inglish (28 iff 49) took them close to the target before Mitchell Starc (16 off 38) and Pat Cummins (14 off 29) took them past the finish line.
