India and Australia take on each other in the ICC World Cup 2023 final on Sunday, November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India vs Australia Final will be their 2nd  final after 2003. The match starts at 2 pm, culminating in the tournament at the end of it.

India and Australia both began their respective World Cup campaign playing each other. They will also end it facing off against each other. The Men in Blue defeated the Men in Yellow in the first game and will also look to end with a win.

Australia are looking for their sixth World Cup title while India is their third. The two teams first played in a World Cup final in 2003 when the Ricky Ponting-led side defeated the Sourav Ganguly-led team to win their third World Cup title.

India vs Australia Match Details

Interestingly enough Australia won 10 games on the trot leading into the 2003 final and India won 8. It is the opposite this time around with the two teams poised for the summit clash. The Men in Blue who already defeated the Aussies earlier in the campaign have an opportunity to beat them again and win their third World Cup. In the process, Rohit Sharma and his boys can lessen the pain of an entire generation who saw India go down against the same team 20 years ago.

The pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium will be the center of attraction leading into the final. The Eden Gardens had a lot of nip and bounce that aided the Australia pacers in overhead conditions in the second semi-final. It will be interesting to see if there will be any amount of grass on the pitch for Sunday’s final.

India vs Australia World Cup Final Match Preview 2023

India

As per India vs Australia match preview, India are on a 10-match winning streak leading into the final. They surpassed the semi-final scare against their old nemesis New Zealand with flying colors in the end. The players have been playing some consistent cricket and it is about keeping that process going.

Rohit Sharma has been very vocal about the players knowing their roles to performing them to perfection until now. He has been praised by cricket experts for his own approach and intent with the bat and also as a skipper.

As the India vs Australia match preview suggests, Mohammed Shami with 23 wickets is the leading wicket-taker in this tournament and a lot will depend on him in the final as well. India have been playing an unchanged side since the league game against New Zealand with Hardik Pandya ruled out. The team has stepped up and performed unanimously. The same team is expected to play in the final as well barring any last-minute injury hiccups.

India Squad

Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishan Kishan, Prasidh Krishna, Suryakumar Yadav.

Australia

According to the India vs Australia match preview, the Men in Yellow are on an 8-match winning streak leading into the final. They lost two games in the league stage and one of them was against India. When the Aussies won the 2003 World Cup they defeated India in the league stage while it was the other way around this time. The win over South Africa proved that they are peaking at the right time and the players are at the peak of their powers heading into the final.

The team has won a few games on individual brilliance and Glenn Maxwell’s knock against Afghanistan was one such knock. Against South Africa in the nervy semi-final, the Aussies kept their nerve in the tense run-chase. As a side, it is hard to find a loophole in the squad the way they have performed in the tournament so far. When pushed against the wall, they have had different players stand out at different moments.

If the Ahmedabad pitch provides a bit of help in the early overs, the Australian pace trio might pose problems for the Indian top order. Thus the key battle will be between the Australian pacers and the Indian batting order in general. Having won a tense semi-final, the Australian players look in form and can almost sense a sixth World Cup title.
