Fans on X reacted after Shubman Gill bagged a failure in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. India and Australia are clashing off with each other in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. 

Australia won the toss and opted to bat first. They bowled decent lines and lengths and tested Indian batters in particular Shubman Gill. The youngster looked scratchy right from the start and was nervous as well. It was expected that he would have a great outing at his favorite Narendra Modi Stadium. 

But it wasn’t too he as he was back in the hut early. Shubman Gill perished on the second ball of the 5th over as field to time his favorite shot short-arm jab. Mitchell Starc bowled a short-of-a-length delivery to which he tried playing that shot. But it didn’t come off as he hit it straight to Adam Zampa at mid-on. 

Shubman Gill scored just 4 runs off 7 balls and didn’t look happy with his dismissal at all. He yelled in frustration and even skipper Rohit Sharma didn’t look happy with his dismissal and gave a disappointing reaction. His wicket jolted India with the early blow as they were 30/1.

Shubman Gill has an exceptional record at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. But today clearly wasn’t his day. After he was back in the hut, Skipper Rohit Sharma fell for 47 runs. Things got worse for India as Shreyas Iyer too perished early. The onus will now be on Virat Kohli and KL Rahul to take the team off to a good start and lay the big platform for others.
