Cricket fans were shocked to witness a video of Pat Cummins arriving in Australia after winning the ICC World Cup 2023 trophy. The Australia skipper did not receive a grand welcome at the airport and there were no fans to cheer for him.

Pat Cummins-led Australia won the ICC World Cup 2023 after defeating India by 6 wickets in the final. Australia opted to bowl first in the match. They restricted India to 240 in 1st innings. Later, they chased down the target in 43 overs to win the 6th ODI World Cup title.

Fans Astonished To Witness Pat Cummins’ Dull Welcome In Australia

A video is going viral on social media in which Australia skipper Pat Cummins returned to Australia with the World Cup trophy. However, Cummins did not receive any grand welcome at the airport.

There were only a few journalists at the airport and there were no fans to welcome the Australian captain. Moreover, other passengers were just busy with their own stuff at the airport.

Cricket fans were astonished to witness such a welcome of the Australian captain. Some said that Australians are not crazy about cricket like Indians. Some others joked about how there are more people in India to watch a JCB machine’s construction work on the road. Have a look at some of the tweets.

After winning the ICC World Cup 2023 trophy, Pat Cummins said it feels exciting to think about the triumph.

“I think we’ll be smiling for a fair while. We are still buzzing. Every half an hour so, you kind of remember that you just won a World Cup and get excited all over again. You only get one chance every four years and especially playing somewhere like India, it’s hard.” Cummins had said in the press.

While Pat Cummins returned to Australia, some other players have stayed in India for the upcoming India vs Australia T20I series. The IND vs AUS T20I series will witness five matches. The opening game takes place on Thursday, November 23 in Visakhapatnam.

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt opened up about Indian fans engaging in abusive behavior towards Australian players and their families. Butt expressed disapproval of the harassment on social media, emphasizing that it goes against the spirit of sportsmanship.

Australia registered a six-wicket victory against India in the World Cup Final in Ahmedabad on November 19. However, cricket supporters issued reprehensible threats, including rape threats, directed at the family members of Travis Head, the Player of the Match in the final.

This Should Not Be Happening – Salman Butt

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Salman Butt said that such behavior is not representative of all Indians. Butt urged fans to focus on applauding the achievements of the players rather than engaging in inappropriate behavior.

“If some fans are harassing Australian players and their families on social media, it is not a reflection of all Indians. It is a reflection of a few people who think differently and poorly. This should not be happening. You should applaud the winning team, which I’m sure most Indian fans have done,” Butt said.

Australia secured their sixth ODI World Cup title by chasing down a 241-run target with six wickets in hand. The Pat Cummins-led side outplayed India, who entered the final unbeaten after winning all league matches and defeating New Zealand in the first semi-final.

India Have Started Their Preparations For T20 World Cup 2024 – Salman Butt

Salman Butt praised the Indian selectors for consistently providing opportunities to young players in preparation for the 2024 T20 World Cup. He emphasized the team’s intent to build backups for every player, highlighting a strategic approach to ensure depth.

“India are testing their bench strength in this series. They have started their preparations right after the ODI World Cup. You can clearly see their intent to have a backup for every player on the road to the T20 World Cup, which makes a lot of sense,” Butt further added.

The Indian team will host Australia in a five-match T20I series, with the first match scheduled to be played in Visakhapatnam on Thursday, November 23. Suryakumar Yadav is set to captain the second-string team, marking his first stint as the national team captain.

"You Have Virtually Turned Your Back On Him" Aakash Chopra On Yuzvendra Chahal's Snub From Australia T20I Series

Yuzvendra Chahal and Sanju Samson were the two big names missing from the Indian T20I squad that was named for the five-match series against Australia. In the process, the BCCI selection committee continued to keep the two cricketers out of the Indian team.

Ravi Bishnoi, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar are the three specialist spinners in the side, However, Chahal’s snub yet again sparks the debate around his future with the Indian cricket team. He played his last T20I against West Indies in August earlier this year.

Aakash Chopra in a video shared on his YouTube channel spoke about Chahal’s exclusion from the Indian T20I squad and shared his feelings regarding the future of the Indian leggie with the national team.

“Ravi Bishnoi is there but Yuzi (Yuzvendra) Chahal isn’t. It’s a slightly surprising thing to me that you have virtually turned your back on him. You neither played him in ODI cricket nor are you keeping his name for T20Is. Is he not good enough anymore?” said Chopra on Chahal.

Chahal is India’s top wicket-taker in T20I cricket with 96 wickets from 80 T20Is. Chopra meanwhile said that it cannot be of great help if the selectors have already decided that he is not worthy of playing international cricket anymore for the country.

“You start getting a feeling like that, which is not a good feeling because Yuzi Chahal has done well. It seems like the selectors have made up their minds and you can’t do anything if someone has made up their mind,” Aakash Chopra said on Yuzvendra Chahal.

The five-match T20I series between India and Australia begins with the first T20I in Visakhapatnam. The series ends with the final T20I in Bengaluru on December 3.

Australia Playing 11 vs India – 1st T20I, 2023

Australia takes on India in a five-match T20I series with the first T20I in Visakhapatnam on November 23, Thursday. The match starts at 7 pm IST with the two teas locking horns in a bilateral series just three days after the end of the World Cup final.

Australia played an ODI series ahead of the start of the World Cup against India which they lost 2-1. They lost to India in the league stage but beat the Men in Blue in the final to lift the World Cup title for the sixth time.

Matthew Wade will lead the Australian team in the series with the senior players rested. Glenn Maxwell, Travis Head, Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa are the five players who are part of the T20I squad who played in the final.

Aaron Hardie has been named as David Warner’s replacement who pulled out of the T20I series. Cricket Australia in a statement said that Warner will return home on the back of a memorable World Cup campaign. He scored 535 runs at the World Cup at an average of nearly 50.

Despite the absence of the senior players, the Australian t20I side looks like a competitive unit. Several players are part of IPL franchises and know the Indian conditions well. The others play in the BBL regularly and are T20 specialists in their own right.

The series is an opportunity for players from both teams to make a statement and stay in the reckoning for next year’s T20 World Cup. India are the number-one ranked T20I side heading into this series, while the Aussies are placed fourth.

Steve Smith

Glenn Maxwell

Maxwell can slot in at four. He ended the World Cup with 400 runs from nine games at an average of 66.67 with 40 fours and 22 sixes in the tournament. He also scored 201 against Afghanistan, the highest score for the Aussies in a World Cup game.

Tim David

David can slot in at five. The Australian hard-hitter was not a part of the World Cup squad but is now a regular in the T20I side. Some big hits can be expected from him.

Marcus Stoinis

Stoinis can slot in at six. He did not play the last few games including the final for Australia. Nonetheless, he is an experienced player and can be crucial with his all-round abilities.

Abbott can bat at eight. He scored a fifty in the ODI series against India and proved his potential with the bat lower down the order. He can also be one of the three pacers in the XI.

India Playing 11 vs Australia – 1st T20I, 2023

India plays Australia in a five-match T20I series starting with the first T20I in Visakhapatnam on November 23. All the matches start from 7 pm IST with the two teams pitted against each other days after India’s World Cup final heartbreak.

Interestingly, India will be led by Suryakumar Yadav in this series with the senior players rested. SKY has received a lot of flak for the way he played in the World Cup final. he scored 18 off 28 balls coming into bat in the final 10 overs of India’s innings. This is SKY’s chance to redeem himself by contributing with the bat against the mighty Aussies.

SKY’s leadership will be tested in this series with him having to manage a group of young players. It’s a relatively inexperienced team with not many players having played more than 10-15 T20Is for India. How he handles the team and handles the pressure will be an interesting observation. SKY is the top-scorer in T20Is in this batting group and has a job at hand with the bat as well.

Every player selected for this series should treat this five-match T20I series as an opportunity to showcase his talent to be in the reckoning for next year’s T20 World Cup. How the bowling group performs without the experienced bowlers will also be an important observation.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is the vice-captain for the first three games. Shreyas Iyer will take up that role in the last two games. There are a lot of talented players in this squad for the series and now they need to translate that potential into performance. This is how India’s playing Xi might look like for the first game.

Ruturaj Gaikwad

Gaikwad will open the batting with Kishan. He is also the vice-captain for the first three games. He now needs to show consistency at the top for the men in Blue. Gaikwad led India to the gold medal in the Asian Games 2023 beating Afghanistan in the final.

Tilak Varma

The southpaw will slot in at three. He has already scored two fifties in his T20I career in 11 matches. He has batted with responsibility so far in his short career and will need to do the same in this series.

Suryakumar Yadav (C)

Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav (Image Credit: Twitter)

SKY will bat at four and also lead the side. He has a job on his hands after the innings he played in the World Cup final. It will be interesting to see how he plays in this series. The skipper is approaching 2000 T20I runs.

Rinku Singh

Rinku Singh

Rinklu will bat at five. He was the breakout superstar in the last IPL edition making his way into T20I cricket. He is the designated finisher in the side and has shown tremendous skills while batting in the final few overs.

Shivam Dube

Shivam Dube

Dube will slot in at six as the specialist seam-bowling all-rounder. He too had a good IPL season in 2023 allowing him to make a comeback into India’s T20I squad. He is India’s reply to Australia’s Marcus Stoinis.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel -Aakash Chopra

Axar will slot in at seven and is one of the two specialist spinners. The left-arm spinning all-rounder was not a part of India’s World Cup squad due to injury and now has a chance to make an impact. He is 11 shy of 50 T20I wickets.

Washington Sundar / Ravi Bishnoi

Washington Sundar

Either one of Sundar of Bishnoi will play depending upon the conditions and the opposition. Washington Sundat’s inclusion lengthens India’s batting till 8. Sundar last played for India in the Asian Games 2023 final as did Bishnoi.

Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeeo Singh will lead the pace attack. He too was not included in India’s World Cup squad when many thought he should be an option. He is amongst the quickest to get to 50 T20I wickets.

Prasidh Krishna

<yoastmark class=

Prasidh can be the second Indian semer in the XI. He was with the Indian team as a backup for the last leg of the World Cup. He can swing the new-ball and also has the pace to trouble the Aussie batters.

Avesh Khan

Avesk Khan is the likely third seamer for the first T20I. He has been given another chance to prove his mettle. The pacer has taken 16 wickets in 16 T20Is.

IND vs AUS 1st T20I 2023- Match Preview

The IND vs AUS 1st T20I will be played in Visakhapatnam on November 23, Thursday. The first T20I kickstarts a five-match T20I series with Bengaluru hosting the final game on December 3. All the matches will begin at 7 pm IST.

The IND vs AUS T20I series starts just three days after India lost to Australia in the ICC World Cup 2023 final. The series kicks off preparations for next year’s T20 World Cup. Both BCCI and Cricket Australia announced 15-man squads for the five-match series.

The senior players from both teams have been rested from this series with the benchstrength of both teams tested. For Australia, David Waner, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Mitchell Marsh all have been rested.

Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Adam Zampa, Jos Inglis, Marcus Stoinis and Travis Head are part of the T20I squad that played the World Cup for the Aussies.

The BCCI selectors named a young squad with all their players rested as well. Suryakumar Yadav was given the responsibility of captaincy as Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal were rested. Ruturaj Gaikwad is the vice-captain for the first three matches. Shreyas Iyer returns as the vice-captain for the last two games.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar have all been named in India’s T20I squad. All these players have been given an opportunity to prove their mettle in the series.

There is a forecast of rain in Vizag in the daytime on the matchday. In the evening there are expected clouds along with rain. Thus the match might have a delayed start and even there might be a loss of overs as the weather forecast suggests. In that case, it might not be an ideal start to what is expected to be a close series.

IND vs AUS Match Preview- 1st T20I, 2023

India

SKY’s captaincy for India will be the most important thing to watch out for. With all the senior players rested, it will be interesting to see how he manages the group of players especially after not having a memorable campaign personally. His knock of 18 off 28 balls was hugely criticized by the Indian cricket fans and is seen as one of the reasons why India got to a below-par score in the end.

The other thing to watch out for will be how the Indian bowling attack performs in this series. Seven bowlers have been selected in this group including four pacers and three spinners. Axar Patel and Washington Sundar make a comeback after missing out on the World Cup.

India having just lost the T20 World Cup, this young group of players have a job on their hands given they will be playing against the team that defeated the senior Indian team in a World Cup final. If India manages to win this series it will be some turnaround to begin with.

India Squad

Suryakumar Yadav (C), Ruturaj Gaikwad (vice-captain), Ishan Kishan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar

Australia

Australia always manages to find a way out to win finals and they did find a way out this time as well. Despite the senior players being rested there is no shortage of experience in this side with Maxwell, Smith, Zampa, Head, and Stoinis being the core of the side. The team’s success will depend a lot on how these players play. Matthew Wade, the wicketkeeper-batsman will lead the side in the series.

Head and Zampa will be the players to watch out for in the first game. The batter is fresh from scoring a match-winning hundred while the leggie just finished the World Cup as the second-highest wicket-taker. For the rest of the players in the group, the series is an opportunity to show their skillset and be in the reckoning for the T20 World Cup 2024.

Australia Squad

Matthew Wade (C), Aaron Hardie, Jason Behrendorff, Sean Abbott, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Tanveer Sangha, Matt Short, Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa.

Australia will be led by Matthew Wade with their senior players being rested as well. Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh have been rested. The series kickstarts preparations for the next year’s T20 World Cup for both teams. The World Cup final loss meant that India’s wait for their next ICC title continues. They won their first and only T20 World Cup title in 2007. Australia won their first title more recently in 2021.

The two teams have played 26 T20Is with India winning 15 matches and Australia 10. One match ended with no result. India having been beaten by the Aussies in the World Cup final is now eyeing to win the T20I series and complete a revenge of sorts.

Australia batter Usman Khawaja has set side retirement plans for now. Usman Khawaja only plays in Tests for Australia. However, he is a regular opener for the team in the longest format. He is currently 36 years old.

The left-handed batsman has played 66 Tests for Australia. In 117 innings, he has mustered 5004 runs at an average of 47.21. Khawaja has also hit 15 centuries and 24 half-centuries in Tests. He will be next seen in the upcoming home Test series against Pakistan next month.

Usman Khawaja Sets Aside Retirement Plans

While speaking on Australian Radio show Nova 106.9, Usman Khawaja was asked about his retirement plans. To this, Khawaja replied that it is not about age but more about how your body and mind are responding to playing.

“It’s a choice at the end of the day. I could have retired five years ago, I could retire now. There are some things that are out of your control, like how the body’s going. It’s also how the mind is. Are you able to go to competitive training every day? The hard yards that you did 10 years ago, are you still doing that?” Usman Khawaja said.

The left-handed batsman also added that he is really enjoying the game and none of the factors for playing has dropped off so far.

“I’m still really enjoying the games, I don’t really have a finishing line. It’s not about what age I’m at, it’s more about the factors, if one of them drops off, then I’ll think maybe it’s time. It just hasn’t dropped off yet,” Khawaja further said.

Usman Khawaja will turn 37 in December. The left-handed batsman was also part of the Ashes 2023 and the Test series against India earlier in March. He is expected to be part of the forthcoming five Tests- three against Pakistan in December and two against West Indies in January.

Pakistan will tour Australia for a three-match Test series. The series commences with the opening game on December 14 in Perth.

"Created Their Own Legacy"- Pat Cummins On Australian Cricket's Rich Success In 2023

Pat Cummins joined an elite list of Australian captains to have won the ICC World Cup title. He is now the fifth Australian captain to have won an ODI World Cup. He joined an elite list with names like Allan Border, Steve Waugh, Ricky Ponting, and Michael Clarke.

Cummins took over as Australia’s Test captain heading into the Ashes series against England. He won that as captain and then won the WTC final against India which was his first major win. Cricket Australia decided to name him as the skipper of the team ahead of the ODI World Cup.

Cummins, marshaled his troops beautifully which eventually resulted in Australia winning their sixth World Cup title. The side began their campaign with back-to-back losses. As it turned out, the team won nine games on the trot since and defeated South Africa and India in the semi-final and the final respectively.

The World Cup win culminated in a year that saw Australia win the Ashes series and the WTC final. Previously the Aussies lost 2-1 in a Test series led by Cummins in India.

“I think they have created their own legacy,” Cummins said of his side as he touched down at Sydney Airport.

“A World Cup, you only get one chance every four years and especially playing somewhere like India, it’s hard. To be pitted up against the rest of the world and come away with a medal, it doesn’t get any better than that. Adding to that an away Ashes series, a World Test Championship. We couldn’t have planned for much better. So a pretty satisfied group” said the pacer captain.

Pretty Pumped To Go The Distance: Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins admitted that Australia’s World Cup campaign was in trouble after the two early losses. However, with consistent wins, Cummins’ captaincy was praised and eventually it resulting in the team putting their best foot forward.

“To be honest (I did think we were long odds). It almost became sudden death really. We thought we pretty much had to be flawless from there on in just to make the semis. And we pretty much were. We started to find ways to win, even when we weren’t having our best days. Even before the tournament, we knew playing ODI cricket in India, it’s a pretty tough assignment. So just to make the semis we were pretty pumped and keen to go a bit further” Cummins concluded saying.

Australia next take on India in a five-match T20I series starting with the first T20I in Vizag on November 23. The senior players including Captain Cummins are rested from the series.

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir countered the notion that the best team did not clinch victory in the recently concluded World Cup 2023 final. Gautam Gambhir described such statements as “bizarre” and emphasized that the league stage standings didn’t matter.

India suffered a six-wicket defeat against Australia in the final in Ahmedabad on November 19. The hosts were unbeaten leading up to the summit clash but faltered against Australia. The Men in Blue failed to secure the World Cup title in front of a home crowd after 12 years.

One Of The Bizzare Statements That I Have Heard – Gautam Gambhir

In a conversation with Sportskeeda, Gautam Gambhir emphasized that the team that played the best cricket emerged as the world champion. Gambhir stated that the winner of the tournament was determined by the performance in the knockout matches.

“A lot of people might not like it. I heard some of the experts saying that the best team has not gone on to win the World Cup. That’s absolutely not true. That’s one of the bizarre statements that I have heard. It’s actually the best team that has won the World Cup. Let’s be honest,” Gambhir told Sportskeeda.

“India won 10 matches and were in very good form, so they were favorites. But Australia had also won eight games in a row after losing the first two. Only the best team wins the World Cup. You cannot define it that way – that India won 10 matches but played one poor game. The reality is the semi-final and the final were the knockout matches. It did not matter whether you finished first or fourth [in the league stage],” he added.

India had an impressive run in the World Cup, winning 10 consecutive matches, including the semi-final and all nine league matches. On the other hand, Australia won seven matches in the league stage and secured a final spot by defeating South Africa in the semi-final.

Let’s Not Run Away From Reality – Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir remarked that winning six league matches is relatively easy, but securing victories in both of the crucial knockout matches is a challenging feat. Gambhir emphasized the importance of acknowledging reality and India’s subpar performance in the final.

“It is easy to win six out of eight league matches. Winning two out of two when you know any mistake can cost you is difficult. Let’s accept it that the best team has gone on to win the World Cup. India did not play well, let’s not run away from reality,” Gambhir concluded.

IND vs AUS: "If He Plays That Game... "- Mitchell Marsh Thinks Travis Head Will Miss The First T20I Against India

Australian opener Travis Head is fresh off his match-winning 137 against India in the ICC World Cup 2023 final in Ahmedabad. His stellar knock powered Australia to their sixth World Cup title as India’s wait to win their next ICC title continued.

Head has now performed in two ICC finals against India. He scored 163 against India in the WTC final at The Oval. He followed it up with another century in the World Cup final. The Southpaw missed the first few games due to a broken hand.

He made a grand return in the match against England with a century, He kept his form going scoring a quickfire fifty against South Africa in the semi-final. He saved his best for the final scoring a century to remember.

Meanwhile, Head’s Australian teammate Mitchell Marsh made an interesting revelation, a day before Australia’s first T20I against India. He hinted at Head possibly missing the first T20I to be played in Vizag. Marsh said that Head might miss the first T20I due to the ongoing celebrations in the Aussie camp after they won their sixth World Cup title.

Mitchell Marsh Hints At Travis Head’s Absence From 1st T20I Against India

“I’m no selector or coach but if he plays that game it’ll be a miracle,” Marsh said.

The Australian all-rounder also responded to the ongoing criticism regarding his viral picture where he can be seen resting his legs on the World Cup trophy. The Indian fans especially have criticized him for his recent gesture. For Marsh though, he has not had much time to think about it.

“I haven’t seen a lot, but there you go,” he added.

To Follow Dad’s Footsteps Is Pretty Crazy- Mitchell Marsh

Interstingly, Mitchell Marsh’s father Geoff Marsh was a part of the Australian squad that won its first World Cup title in 1987 also held in India. Geoff scored 428 runs in that edition ending as the third-highest run-getter. His son Mitchell scored 441 runs including two centuries.

“It was 40 years ago that Dad won in India, and to follow in his footsteps is pretty crazy. To have him there, and celebrate winning World Cups – he’s a past player, so always love having those guys in the change rooms. It was awesome,” Mitchell Marsh said.

Michael Vaughan and Travis Head

Former England captain Michael Vaughan lauded Australian opener Travis Head following his heroics in the recently concluded World Cup 2023 Final. Michael Vaughan emphasized that Travis Head might attract a significant bid in the upcoming IPL 2024 mini-auction.

Travis Head played an outstanding knock against India in Ahmedabad on November 19. He scored 137 runs off 120 balls, featuring four sixes and 15 boundaries. He rescued the team with a 192-run partnership with Marnus Labuschagne after Australia were struggling at 47/3.

Travis Head Wasn’t Consistently Dangerous – Michael Vaughan

In his column for The Sydney Morning Herald, Michael Vaughan pointed out Head’s improvement over the years, highlighting his consistent and aggressive batting. Vaughan emphasized that Head has become a model for controlled aggression and strategic play.

“I am not sure what exactly he has done, but he is a great example to all cricketers that there is room for improvement. Years ago, there was potential, but he wasn’t consistently dangerous. His method now is the blueprint for sustained aggression, and how to dictate terms. My guess is that he might get a rather large IPL contract – and he should,” Vaughan wrote.

Travis Head Led That With The Catch – Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan pointed out that Travis Head’s recognition as the Player of the Match in both the World Cup semi-final and final is a testament to his rapid improvement, establishing him as one of the world’s most formidable batters.

“Australia’s bowlers were all excellent, and they fielded brilliantly. Travis Head led that with the catch of Rohit Sharma, a huge moment in the game, then played a superb innings with the bat. To be a player of the match in the World Cup semi-final and final is very special. In no time at all, he has become one of the most dangerous batters in the world, proving that you can improve over time,” Vaughan added.

After missing a few matches in the World Cup, Head marked his return with an impressive century against New Zealand at the HPCA Stadium. He secured the Player of the Match title against South Africa for his swift half-century during a challenging run-chase.

Australia spinner Adam Zampa could not stop himself from taking a dig at former captain Michael Clarke after his team’s triumphant campaign in the recently-concluded ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

The former Australia captain had written of his country’s chances in the World Cup after the poor start to the campaign. The Pat Cummins-led side began their campaign with two heavy defeats. They suffered a six-wicket loss against hosts India before being thrashed by 134 runs by South Africa.

Not many had given Australia a chance of advancing ahead of the league stage let alone winning the tournament. However, the team from Down Under defied all the odds and won seven games in a row to storm into the semifinals. In their last two games, they beat South Africa and India to end their campaign in a fitting manner.

Adam Zampa takes a dig at Michael Clarke:

After Australia’s loss in the first two games, Michael Clarke had written off their chances. He had predicted that Australia would struggle against the likes of Sri Lanka and Pakistan in spinning conditions. He had gone on to say that Australia could come out as laughable against subcontinental teams.

“I’m not saying our World Cup is over. We could still qualify with two losses, but Sri Lanka are going to be tough in those conditions. We haven’t played Pakistan yet,” Clarke told Sky Sports Radio at the time.

“We’ve got some really tough cricket ahead of us and if we play like this, we are not qualifying. I’m more worried about the subcontinent teams. If we are getting shown up like that against South Africa, with the spin in the sub-continent teams … we will be laughable.

“If we’re not careful the conversation we’ve been having for the last three weeks about the Wallabies [at the Rugby World Cup], in two weeks time we’ll be having that about Australian cricket,” he added.

More than a month after Clarke’s statement, Adam Zampa has shown that he has got a good and long memory, After proving Clarke wrong, the Australia spin spearhead took to Instagram to mock his comments. The leg-spinner quoted Clarke in part, followed by a series of laughing emojis and then an orange love heart.

It was not all from Adam Zampa as he followed it up with another post showing him wearing a World Cup winner’s medal with a caption: “1 spinner 1 winner”. It was in relation to critics’ claims that picking just one spinner was a mistake by Australia.

Adam Zampa played a key role in Australia’s triumphant campaign. With 23 wickets from 11 games, he finished the competition as Australia’s leading wicket-taker. Only India’s Mohammed Shami picked up more wickets than him in the tournament.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has questioned Rohit Sharma’s shot that dismissed him in the ICC World Cup 2023 final. Rohit Sharma got out when trying to hit a boundary which was caught by Travis Head. Notably, Sharma had already hit a boundary and six in that over earlier.

Rohit Sharma’s dismissal was a key moment in India’s batting during ICC World Cup 2023. Sharma and Kohli were batting well in the powerplay overs. However, as the Indian skipper tried to hit another big shot in that over, he was caught by Travis Head.

Was Rohit Sharma Being Too Greedy- Sunil Gavaskar

In his column for Sportstar, cricketer-turned-commentator Sunil Gavaskar questioned Rohit Sharma’s dismissal shot. He feels that Sharma was being too greedy and he should have restricted himself from risky shots as the team had already lost Shubman Gill cheaply.

“Travis Head’s superlative turning and running back catch dashed India’s hopes of getting a 300-plus score. That catch dismissed Rohit Sharma, who once again stormed his way to another quickfire 40-plus. That wicket fell in the final over of the first powerplay where there are only two fielders allowed outside the 30-metre circle”.

“He had already hit a six and a four in the over and was obviously trying to capitalise on the few deliveries left before the powerplay finished. Was he being too greedy? Could he not have curbed himself since Shubman Gill had already been dismissed?”, Gavaskar wrote.

Sharma scored 47 runs before losing his wicket. India lost another wicket soon in the form of Shreyas Iyer, who scored 4 runs. As a result, India lost the momentum at the start. Later, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul slammed half-centuries.

However, with Australia picking wickets at regular intervals, India could only get to 240 at the scoreboard. Later, Australia chased down the target with a century by Travis Head. Winning the match by 6 wickets, the Aussies clinched their 6th ODI World Cup trophy.

Veteran Australian opener David Warner revealed the reason behind skipper Pat Cummins’ decision to bowl first in the final of the World Cup 2023. David Warner disclosed that the team management initially considered batting first during the summit clash in Ahmedabad.

Team India posted a total of 240 runs after being asked to bat first on Sunday, November 19. The Pat Cummins-led team comfortably chased down the below-par target in 43 overs with six wickets in hand. The Men in Yellow secured their sixth title in ODI World Cup history.

We Can Then Chase And Then Anchor – David Warner

Speaking to AB de Villiers on the latter’s YouTube channel, David Warner stated that the majority of players favored chasing on the day of the match. Warner explained that the decision was influenced by the intention to assess the conditions comprehensively.

“They were discussing it the night before for a good hour and a half or two hours about what to do. All the stats coming through was saying, bat first and put runs on the board. But for once, when we got all got asked that question, I think a majority of us said let’s just chase,” Warner said.

“If we bowl well and understand the conditions like that, we can then chase and then anchor,” he added.

Marnus Labuschagne Was Absolutely Perfect – David Warner

Warner praised Marnus Labuschagne, drawing a parallel with India’s resilience in the first game, where Virat Kohli and KL Rahul turned the game around. Warner emphasized how knowing the target allows the best batters to play according to the situation.

“What Marnus did was absolutely perfect. You look at when we played India in the first game. I think they were 3/4 (2/3) but then Virat did what he does, KL Rahul as well. They were ice calm. When you know what to get, your best batters generally thrive. They will play the tempo of the game,” Warner further added.

The Men in Blue bowled out Australia for 199 runs in their tournament opener in Chennai. The home team lost three wickets for just three runs in the chase. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul steadied the chase, adding a 165-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

However, Pat Cummins’ decision to bat first proved to be fruitful as the Aussies managed to restrict India to a low total of 240. A relatively slow and dry pitch did not allow Indian batters to go high. Later, the pitch reacted better and with the help of dew, the Aussies chased down the target by 6 wickets.

Pat Cummins Opting To Bowl First Was A Brave Decision- Allan Border

Speaking to Fox Sports, World Cup-winning Australia captain Allan Border said that opting to bowl first was one of the bravest decisions by Pat Cummins.

“Pat Cummins’ ‘bowl first’ call in the World Cup final was one of the bravest decisions I have seen from a cricket captain. I must be honest, when I heard Pat say “we will bowl’’ I thought “oh no, Patrick, you have lost the plot, you blokes”, he said.

Allan Border also revealed he felt the Aussies made a mistake after seeing Rohit Sharma smashing runs during the powerplay overs.

“When Rohit Sharma was going hard early, I thought “what are we doing?’ Those first half a dozen to 10 overs I was thinking, ‘Oh my god, The decision to bowl first has just backfired,” said Border.

With the help of cutters and bouncers, Australian pacers managed to get key wickets in the 1st innings. Since India lost most of their batsmen early, they failed to set up a big total on the scoreboard.

Australia pacers were quite successful in the match, with Mitchell Starc getting 3 wickets and Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood getting 2 scalps each. Cummins bowled a superb spell, conceding just 34 runs in his 10 overs. Travis Head played a match-winning knock of 137 runs to drive Australia to victory in 43 overs.

Former India National Cricket Team player Suresh Raina has said that the captaincy of Pat Cummins swung the game in Australia’s favor in the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Australia beat India by 6 wickets in the final of the World Cup 2023. The Aussies comprehensively outplayed India in all three departments and ended their 10-match winning streak in the marquee tournament.

Talking about the match, Suresh Raina said that Australia were the better team in the World Cup final and they deserved to win. He added that Pat Cummins did a brilliant captaincy in the match and was one of the reasons for his team’s win.

“Australia played better than India, you can’t complain about that. It was just one bad day at the office,” said Raina, as quoted by TOI.

“What swung the game in Australia’s favour was Pat Cummins’ captaincy. The way he brought Glenn Maxwell in to the attack to get the wicket of Rohit Sharma with a brilliant catch from Travis Head was very smart. Adam Zampa was great too, as was Cummins himself in dismissing Virat Kohli,” said Raina while talking to ICC.

Suresh Raina also lauded Australia’s fielding in the World Cup final, giving a special mention to Travis Head’s spectacular catch to dismiss Rohit Sharma, who was batting extremely well. He elaborated:

“Another big factor was Australia’s fielding, I think they saved 30 to 40 runs. From ball one, they were saving a lot of singles and boundaries. There was Travis’s catch and some excellent work in the deep from David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne.

“I think Cummins showed real temperament in his captaincy. He changed his bowlers knowing he could put pressure on each India batter even though they were all in such good form. His tactics made all the difference and his planning and execution was perfect.”

Travis Head played the best knock of the World Cup – Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina also lauded Travis Head for his brutal 137-run knock that pushed India out of the game in the World Cup final during the run-chase.

“If you look at Australia’s innings, they were 47 for three, but India couldn’t put the pressure on because they were only defending 241 and then Travis Head played the best knock of the World Cup to change the direction of the game with his positive batting,” Raina added.

Suresh Raina labeled the dismissal of high-flying Rohit Sharma as the turning point of the match for India.

“It was very dry and they couldn’t keep pressure on with the bat because Australia bowled a lot of short balls and deliveries into the wicket which meant India couldn’t rotate the strike. Rohit’s wicket was a turning point and there were not enough runs on the board, especially when you’re used to making totals of up to 400,” said Raina.

Suresh Raina further lauded Rohit Sharma for his fantastic captaincy throughout the World Cup, saying that his planning, decision-making, approach, and execution were absolutely top-notch.

“I thought Rohit Sharma’s captaincy was fantastic too. He looked very solid in his planning, decision making, approach and execution. He looked like a proper leader.

Like MS Dhoni before him, he brought a team together and they played excellently. I don’t know if Rohit will play in the next 50-over World Cup, he might play in the T20 World Cup, but he really wanted to win the World Cup for the whole country. But God planned something else,” said Raina.

Australia players have complained about the death and rape threats that they have received from Indian fans as per the reports in South Asia Index. This comes after Pat Cummins-led side won the ICC World Cup 2023, defeating India in the final at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad.

As Australia thumped India by 6 wickets, various Indian fans have sent unacceptable messages to the players as well as their family members. Travis Head, who slammed a brutal century, has been the most targetted batter. They have sent rape and death threats to her wife and one-year-old daughter.

Glenn Maxwell’s wife Vini Raman, who is of Indian origin, also received a lot of uncultured messages. But she took that to her Instagram account and opted to hit back at those messages. The Indian fans have vented out their frustration, which isn’t good at all.

Australian players however have reported the matter to Cricket Australia. It remains to be seen what action the governing body takes on this. They might report the issue to ICC but so far there has been no official confirmation about it.

What happened in the game between India and Australia in the final of the World Cup 2023

India were asked to bat first. Rohit Sharma (47) yet again gave his team a blistering start and batted aggressively. After that, Virat Kohli (54) chipped in as well but India were left tottering at 81/3. KL Rahul (66) tried to get going the run dried up in the middle and they couldn’t score runs freely.

Somehow, India managed 240 runs on the board. It was expected that it would be a thriller and the start by the bowlers left Australia tottering at 47/3. But after that, nothing went their way. Travis Head (137) blasted a brutal century whereas Marnus Labuschagne supported him well as Australia completed a comfortable 6-wicket victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This was Australia’s 6th World Cup title.

Pat Cummins, World Cup Final, India vs Australia

India National Cricket Team opted for a sluggish pitch in the ICC World Cup 2023 final because of what happened in the Chennai league fixture against Australia. The reports in Indian Express suggested that Indian team management was worried after what the pacers did to their batters in the first game.

India and Australia locked horns with each other in their first game of the tournament in Chennai. The MA Chidambaram Stadium offered a slow pitch but the likes of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins troubled them. Keeping that in mind, the team management felt that they could trouble them more in Ahmedabad.

This was one of the main reasons why Indian team management opted for the pitch that was used for the Pakistan game. They expected that a slow surface would favor India more because they expected spinners to wreak havoc across the Australian batting lineup. Apart from this, they chose such a surface because it assisted skipper Rohit Sharma as well and he could easily take bowlers to cleaners.

But things backfired for them as Australia thrashed India by 6 wickets. India opted to bat first but in the day batting was quite difficult. The pitch was very slow and India could manage just 240 runs. Batters struggle to get going with KL Rahul being the top scorer with 66 runs.

However, things changed drastically as under the lights the ball came pretty well to the bat and batting became easy, of which the Australian batters took advantage and won the game by 6 wickets. Travis Head (137) slammed a staggering century and took his team home with the support of Marnus Labuschagne (58*).

ICC’s chief pitch consultant Andy Atkinson not part of pitch selection in India games

Recently reports in Daily Mail suggested that ICC’s chief pitch consultant Andy Atkinson wasn’t allowed to take part in the process of pitch selection in India games and was virtually sidelined.

He also raised concerns over the pitch for the India-New Zealand semifinal at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The pitch for that game was also a used surface. The Rohit Sharma-led side won the game by 70 runs and advanced to the final.

Australian cricketer Marnus Labuschagne opened up about sledging he faced from the Indian players, including Virat Kohli, during the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. He said that the opposition team was trying to get into him but he couldn’t hear them because of the electric crowd of Ahmedabad.

Marnus Labuschagne played a pivotal role in Australia’s 6-wicket win over India in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. The batter soaked in all the pressure when his side was left tottering at 47/3 in the chase of 241 runs. He played his role to perfection and also supported centurion Travis Head magnificently well.

India were all over Australia in the first phase of their chase. The crowd too supported them and got behind their team. When Marnus Labuschagne came to bat, Virat Kohli welcomed him with some aggression. The batter capped at him and quipped something before staring at him.

After that, Shreyas Iyer also had a go at him as he was heard saying something to Marnus Labuschagne. But the Australia batter kept his calm and looked unfazed by all the sledging and the crowd’s gestures. He kept batting with focus and won his team the game.

Marnus Labuschagne opened up about the same, saying that he couldn’t hear what Indian players told him in the game. He also talked about the atmosphere, saying that he was delighted to see fans getting involved in the game. Speaking in his latest newsletter My World Cup Final Wrap, he explained:

“It was so loud and the wave of momentum India had was immense. The Indian team were getting into me and all I could say back, and very truthfully at that, was ‘I actually can’t hear what you’re saying over the crowd’. On this bus ride to the ground, there were fans lining the streets from about 5km out. It was amazing to see the fans get behind the game like they did.”

Standing in the middle of a giant stadium with 130,000 fans in it who all went silent – Marnus Labuschagne on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s dismissal

Marnus Labuschagne further talked about the dismissal of Virat Kohli. He said that the entire stadium went silent after that and they as a team took in a moment for it. He also said that Rohit Sharma’s dismissal was massive in the context of the game and credited Glenn Maxwell and Travis Head for their effort. He added:

“Standing in the middle of a giant stadium with 130,000 fans in it who all went silent at this moment. We all just stood in the team huddle and took it in for a moment.

It was huge in the context of the game. For Maxi to throw it up like he did and tempt Rohit into the shot, and then Heady to take this grab. It was massive.”

Marnus Labuschagne will now be heading home and preparing for the Test series against Pakistan, beginning 14th December.

Former Pakistan cricketer Aaqib Javed slammed PCB for forcing Haris Rauf to play Test cricket. He highlighted how the fast bowler got injured after playing one game in the longest format of the game and questioned why they wanted to play him.

Haris Rauf has become the hot soup in Pakistan cricket after he made himself unavailable for the Test series against Australia. The fast bowler kept in mind his workload and body and decided to opt out of the series.

PCB chief selector Wahab Riaz said they assured him that they would look after him and manage his workload. He mentioned that even physios were optimistic about his fitness, but the pacer didn’t agree and added his absence might hurt Pakistan. He stated:

“We spoke to Haris Rauf about this tour 2 days ago, and he gave his consent to playing Tests for Pakistan. However, he changed his mind last night and didn’t want to be a part of this Australia Test series. He was worried about fitness issues and workload.

“We gave him assurances that we will facilitate him and accept any potential failures. Our physio said he has no injury concerns. He is fatigued, but we could have managed him well. However, he pulled out and is unavailable for this tour. I think this could hurt Pakistan cricket.”.

Keeping in mind Wahab Riaz’s statement, Aaqib Javed lashed out at the PCB, saying that he has been playing T20 cricket for the last one year and hasn’t played a single Test. Javed slammed them saying that on what basis they are picking him as there’s no logic behind his selection. He stated:

“Haris Rauf has been playing T20 cricket, he hasn’t played Test cricket for a year, so how can they play him? Haris played one Test and got unfit. PCB claims they will respect players, on the other hand, they put pressure on them. Right now there is no logic that you are telling Haris to play Test cricket. On what performance are you telling Haris to play in the Australia series?”

If Pakistan can avoid a whitewash in this series, it will be a big feat – Aaqib Javed

Pakistan are first scheduled to have a training camp. It’ll take place in Rawalpindi from November 20. After that, they will travel to Australia for the Test series. The first match will be played in Perth from 14th December. The focus will then shift towards the second match, to be played from 27th December in Melbourne. The final match will happen in Sydney from 3rd January.

Aaqib Javed highlighted the struggles of the Pakistan team in Australia over the past few years and said that it’ll be a big feat for the team. He added:

“Pakistan teams with big names went to Australia but couldn’t win. If Pakistan can avoid a whitewash in this series, it will be a big feat.”

Here’s Pakistan’s squad for the Test series against Australia:

Shan Masood (c), Aamir Jamal, Abdullah Shafiq, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Nauman Ali, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Shaheen Afridi, Saud Shakeel, Sarfaraz Ahmed

“Virat Kohli was unlucky. He was outstanding with the bat and took India to a place where they would have been in the driver’s seat if he and KL Rahul batted together for another 10 overs. However, Australia kept taking wickets at crucial junctures, not letting India stitch a partnership,” Butt further said.

India could only reach 240 runs in the 1st innings of the ICC World Cup 2023 final. Later, with a century by Travis Head, Australia won the match by 6 wickets. For India, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul slammed half-centuries. However, it was not enough to drive the team to a big total.

Former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram talked about India’s performance in the ICC World Cup 2023 final. He said that India panicked a bit and suggested that Mohammed Siraj should’ve bowled with the new ball while defending.

India had to face a disappointing loss in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. Australia thrashed them by 6 wickets and extended Men In Blue’s ICC title drought. The Rohit Sharma-led side’s dream to lift the title at home was shattered because they couldn’t cope with the pressure on the big day.

India was asked to bat first and they managed just 240 runs on the board. The pitch was quite slow but after three wickets they got into the shell and played slowly. Thanks to efforts from Virat Kohli (54), KL Rahul (66), and Rohit Sharma (47) they ended up with a fighting total on the board.

With the ball, India did something different from other games. Mohammed Shami was handed the new ball instead of Mohammed Siraj. Although he picked the wicket of David Warner, he didn’t have proper control on the swing and also leaked a few runs as well. The Men in Blue reduced Australia to 47/3 but after that, nothing went their way.

Travis Head (137) blasted a brutal century whereas Marnus Labuschagne (58*) supported him well as Australia completed a comfortable 6-wicket victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Wasim Akram pointed out how Mohammed Shami bowled wides with the new ball. He opined that the fast bowler should’ve been used as India used him in the league stage. Speaking to Sportskeeda, he explained:

“They panicked a bit. I understand that he [Shami] has dismissed many left-handers and has bowled brilliantly from round the wicket. Travis Head survived against him. You must have noted that Shami bowled a couple of wide balls. I feel Siraj should have bowled 2-3 overs at the start just because of his swing.

“Psychologically, Shami knew that he comes first change, so the ball is controllable as it is a little old. Giving him the new ball in the World Cup final, out of the box thinking, I am all for it. But, Siraj should have bowled 2-3 overs at the start. If nothing had happened, Shami could have been brought on.”

Travis Head changed the game – Wasim Akram

Wasim Akram also lavished rich praise on Travis Head, saying that he took all the pressure off Marnus Labuschagne. He explained:

“Travis Head changed the game. He took all the pressure away from Labuschagne, the way he batted. Both India and Australia knew that it was about one wicket.”

It remains to be seen what will be the future of the India team after the loss in the final. They will be next seen in action when they will take on Australia in the five-match T20I series, starting on 23rd November.

David Warner

While it was widely anticipated that the recently concluded ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 would mark David Warner’s farewell, his former teammate Michael Hussey believes the southpaw still has a lot to contribute in the format.

Earlier this year, David Warner announced that he would retire from Tests after the Sydney Test against Pakistan in January next year. During the course of the World Cup, the Australia opener also confirmed that he would not take a central contract from Cricket Australia in the upcoming season, making many believe that he would bring down curtains on his ODI career after the tournament.

However, David Warner, on Tuesday (November 21), made it clear that he is still not done with the ODIs. Responding to a social media post stating he had finished a “glorious” ODI World Cup career with 1527 runs, he wrote: “Who said I’m finished?”

Michael Hussey on David Warner’s ODI future:

With David Warner in no mood to give up on white-ball cricket as of now, Michael Hussey has backed his former teammate. While the opener would be 41-year-old when the next ODI World Cup takes place, Michael Hussey is not ruling out the possibility of seeing the left-handed batsman play.

“I wouldn’t write him off,” Hussey told foxsports.com.au.

“He’s been a champion player in all forms of the game for such a long, long, long period of time and you should never write off champion players, and that’s exactly what he is,” he added.

David Warner enjoyed a prolific campaign in the World Cup and was Australia’s leading run-scorer. In 11 games, he scored 535 runs with the help of two centuries and as many half-centuries. The veteran also received praise from all around for his impressive fielding displays in the competition, especially in the final.

Speaking further, Michael Hussey said: “It’s almost like he wants people to write him off, just to prove them wrong. It seems like that is the sort of character he’s got inside him. So if we want him to continue on, maybe we should say he is finished and we need to look at the next generation, and that will push him to go on.”

Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi shared his verdict on pacer Haris Rauf pulling out of the Test series against Australia. He said that it wasn’t a correct decision by him as fast bowlers enjoy Australian conditions and he could’ve prepared well.

Pakistan recently announced the squad for the upcoming Test series against Australia. However, one thing that caught the attention of many was Haris Rauf’s name not being there. This raised many speculations but later it was revealed that he himself opted out of the three-match Test series.

Haris Rauf earlier was adamant to play in the series but on the eve of the squad announcement, he made himself unavailable. The fast bowler took the decision, keeping in mind his workload and fitness. The pacer conveyed to selectors that he was fatigued and needed a break.

Haris Rauf’s decision to pull out of the Test series against Australia however has raised quite a few questions about his commitment to the team. This has now become a new debate in the Pakistan Cricket and the latest to join the bandwagon is Shahid Afridi.

Shahid Afridi pointed out that had the Test series been slated to take place in Asia then he wouldn’t have picked Haris Rauf, but in Australian conditions, the pacer should’ve enjoyed and his decision is not correct at all. Speaking to Samaa TV, he explained:

“If the Test series had been in Asia, I wouldn’t have taken Haris Rauf along. Haris Rauf is missing a big opportunity because Australian conditions are very good for the pacers. Fast bowlers enjoy playing in those conditions. He didn’t need to play all three games, had he played just one and along with training and practice sessions, he could’ve prepared well for the T20I sides against New Zealand, where conditions are different. He could’ve adjusted easily. I think refusing to tour Australia for the test series is not the correct decision by Haris Rauf.”

I think this could hurt Pakistan cricket – Wahab Riaz on Haris Rauf opting out of the series

Chief selector Wahab Riaz talked about Haris Rauf’s absence. He admitted that despite the management assuring him that they would manage his workload, the pacer didn’t agree. He also added that it’ll hurt the team. Speaking about the same, he explained:

“We spoke to Haris Rauf about this tour 2 days ago, and he gave his consent to playing Tests for Pakistan. However, he changed his mind last night and didn’t want to be a part of this Australia Test series. He was worried about fitness issues and workload.

“We gave him assurances that we will facilitate him and accept any potential failures. Our physio said he has no injury concerns. He is fatigued, but we could have managed him well. However, he pulled out and is unavailable for this tour. I think this could hurt Pakistan cricket.”.

Here’s Pakistan’s squad for the Test series against Australia:

Shan Masood (c), Aamir Jamal, Abdullah Shafiq, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Nauman Ali, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Shaheen Afridi, Saud Shakeel, Sarfaraz Ahmed

Team India Needs To Move On- Kapil Dev

While speaking to reports, World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev shared a message for Team India. He feels that the team needs to move on as they can’t carry this blow for the rest of life.

“Sportsman has to move on. Can’t carry on this blow for the rest of life. This is for the fans. A sportsman has to move on. What’s happened cannot be undone. Keep working hard. That’s what a sportsman is all about. They played really good cricket. Yes, they couldn’t cross the final hurdle. What we can learn from this mistake is what a sportsman is all about,” Kapil Dev said.

After losing the final, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said that they failed to stitch big partnerships in the match.

“We tried everything we could from our side. But yeah, it wasn’t supposed to be. We couldn’t stitch a big partnership there. And that’s exactly what Australia did to win the game. They stitched a big partnership after those three wickets,” Rohit had said after the defeat.

KL Rahul Was Not Trusting Other Batters: Misbah-ul-Haq

While speaking to A Sports, former Pakistan coach Misbah-ul-Haq said that KL Rahul did not trust other batters during the match. He also said that maybe Rahul was trying to take the scoreboard to 250 himself.

“KL Rahul plays spin very well and we have seen it throughout the tournament. He plays well square of the wicket, front of the wicket, and uses his feet really well. But today his approach was that he was waiting. Maybe he was not trusting the other batters. He was thinking about getting the team to 250 and it got difficult,” said Misbah.

Pakistan Cricketer Imad Wasim made a bold claim after India lost the final of the ICC World Cup 2023 against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He said that Men in Blue made conditions for themselves and even after that they lost.

India were at the receiving end of a heartbreaking loss against Australia in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. The Men in Blue suffered a thumping 6-wicket loss and it marked their 10th consecutive loss in the knockout of the ICC tournaments. They played the staggering brand of cricket throughout the entire tournament but when it mattered most, they failed.

The stage was set for India to lift their third ICC World Cup as they dominated every opposition in the league stage. The Rohit Sharma-led won 9 out of their 9 league games and also bagged a 70-run win in the semi-final against New Zealand.

But on a slow pitch, they couldn’t get going and were bundled out for just 240 runs with the bat. With the ball, they started well and took three early wickets. But after that, they couldn’t pick wickets as the opposition chased the target with 6 wickets in hand. Travis Head (137) slammed a brutal century whereas Marnus Labuschagne (58*) played a decent knock as well.

Imad Wasim pointed out that Australia’s never-say-die attitude proved that despite things being not in your favor, you still can win. Speaking during a show in Pakistan, he explained:

“Australia showed us that no matter the crowd is against you, the pitch is against your nature, the conditions don’t support you at all – you can still win if you have a never-say-die attitude. India made conditions for themselves and still lost.”

This isn’t the end, it’s not over until we win – Shubman Gill after India’s World Cup loss

After India lost the final of the ICC World Cup 2023, various young players shared their experiences. One of the best posts came from Shubman Gill. He wrote a heartfelt message after the loss in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. He reflected on the team’s campaign and said that things aren’t over for them until they win the trophy. He stated:

“Been almost 16 hours but still hurts like it did last night. Sometimes giving your everything isn’t enough. We fell short of our ultimate goal but every step in this journey has been a testament to our team’s spirit and dedication. To our incredible fans, your unwavering support in our highs and lows means the world to us. This isn’t the end, it’s not over until we win. Jai Hind.”

Maybe God Has Saved Something Special For Virat Kohli: Sanjay Bangar

During a discussion on Star Sports, Sanjay Bangar said that God must have kept something special for Virat Kohli. He also feels that god might want him to play next ODI World Cup.

“Virat’s desire to win the trophy, I feel he has God’s blessings, and probably God has saved something special for him. He (Kohli) crossed Sachin Tendulkar’s 49-century mark and Sachin also had to play his sixth World Cup for his first gold medal.”

“Don’t know why God takes such tough examinations of such big players. That’s what I can understand – maybe destiny still wants him to play the next World Cup, and hope and pray that he gets that gold medal,” Bangar said.

Virat Kohli also broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI tons during the ICC World Cup 2023. He also created the record for most runs in a single World Cup tournament. However, even after his stunning show, Team India failed to win the trophy.

Slightly Better Pitch Would’ve Helped India: Harbhajan Singh

While speaking on India Today, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh said that the pitch was a little slow and drier than usual during the ICC World Cup 2023 final.

“I think it was the kind of pitch which was on the slower side. It was drier than the usual pitch. You know, I would have liked to see a pitch where a lot of scores like 300 plus have been scored. That sort of pitch would have India more than this kind of pitch where, you know, you bring your opposition in the game,” he said.

Harbhajan Singh also feels that a slightly better pitch would have helped India in the match.

“You know where your batters were in such great form. They looked really good throughout the tournament, and they were fantastic and very, very proud of them. The way they play their cricket. I think, a slightly better pitch would help them to perform better than what happened,” said Harbhajan.

Ahmedabad pitch was a little slower and drier than usual. For instance, the stadium witnessed 200-plus totals during the playoffs and final of ICC World Cup 2023. Harbhajan also said that India was superior in the match. He also added that even his Aussies friends believed that India would win the match.

“I believe India was the superior side. You ask anyone. Yesterday before the game, I spoke to a couple of my Aussie friends who I played with in my era. And all of them, they said, India is just top side, and it will be India all the way,” he concluded.

Australia outplayed India in both batting and bowling to win the ICC World Cup 2023 trophy. The Aussies won their 6th ICC ODI World Cup trophy. India and Australia will now lock horns in a five-match T20I series.

Mohammed Shami Was a Standout Player For India

Rashid Latif feels that Mohammed Shami was the standout player for India in ICC World Cup 2023.

“You look at the way he has come up and done so well. He was in my opinion the standout player for India in this World Cup”, he said.

Latif also said that the final loss could be a psychological thing with Indian players as they were worthy of winning the title.

“Maybe it is just a psychological thing with the Indian players. This team was worthy of winning the World Cup final but all credit to the Australians for showing once again how mentally tough and organized they are in their sports,” Latif further said.

Shami also clinched the record for the best bowling figures by an Indian player after picking a 7-wicket haul against New Zealand in the final. Shami was rested for the first four games and later inducted into the playing 11 after Hardik Pandya faced an injury.

Meanwhile, Australia defeated India by 6 wickets in the final to grab ICC World Cup 2023 title. Australia restricted India to 240 all-out and later chased down the target with a century by Travis Head (137).

It was a surprising result for many Indian fans as Team India dominated every team during the league stage. India was unbeaten during the league stage, winning 9 games out of 9 to top the points table.

Speaking about India’s loss to Australia in the ICC World Cup 2023 final, former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram has said that Team India had one bad day and unfortunately, it came in the final. India lost to Australia in the final by 6 wickets to witness yet another setback in the ICC tournament.

India executed a marvelous performance in the tournament. During the league stage, the men-in-blue remained unbeatable and grabbed lopsided victories in all games. However, their only defeat of the tournament arrived in the most crucial game which was the final against Australia.

India Had One Bad Day And It Came In Final: Wasim Akram

While speaking to PTI, former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram said that India had one bad day in the tournament and it came in the final. He also reckoned that Indian cricket is in a good place.

“Obviously they must be shattered to lose the final but in cricket, these things happen. India had one bad day, and unfortunately, it came in the final. You look at their structure, the money for players, the well-thought-out programs, and the backup talent, and they really just need to continue doing these things. Their cricket is in a good place,” Wasim Akram said.

The former left-arm pacer also feels that Australia becomes a different team in the final. He recalled how the Aussies defeated Pakistan in ODI World Cup 1999 final.

“I was captain when we played them in the 1999 World Cup final and although we had beaten them in the league stage, in the final they were a different side just like yesterday in Ahmedabad,” Akram further said.

Talking about the India vs Australia match, Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first. India was bowled out for 240 in the 1st innings, with half-centuries by Virat Kohli (54) and KL Rahul (66). However, no batters managed to bat deep. Mitchell Starc hunted 3 wickets for Australia while Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins got 2 scalps each.

During the chase, India restricted Australia to 47-3 at one stage. However, Travis Head (137) slammed a stunning century to drive Australia to victory by 7 wickets. Marnus Labuschagne added an unbeaten 58 runs as the Aussies won their 6th ODI World Cup title.

Veteran opener David Warner has withdrawn from Australia’s squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against India after the successful campaign in the recently concluded ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

The series is scheduled to get underway on November 23, just four days after the final between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. David Warner played in all of the 11 games for Australia and played a key role in their triumphant campaign. The left-handed batsman scored 535 runs with the help of two centuries and two half-centuries in the competition as Australia clinched a record-extending sixth title.

He finished the competition as Australia’s leading run-scorer in the tournament. He has now been rested for the upcoming T20I series along with Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Cam Green and Mitchell Marsh. He will now return home to get some much-needed rest before preparing for his final Test summer. David Warner has already announced that he would retire from Tests after the Sydney Test against Pakistan in January.

“Selectors decided Warner would return home on the back of a successful yet demanding World Cup campaign,” stated a statement from Cricket Australia.

David Warner’s replacement:

David Warner has been replaced in Australia’s T20 squad by pace-bowling all-rounder Aaron Hardie. The West Australia made his T20I and ODI debuts during the tour of South Africa in September. With David Warner out of the series, Steve Smith could be promoted as an opener by Australia in the fourth series. The former Australia skipper had a stunning outing as an opener for Sydney Sixers in the last BBL season.

In another change, fast-bowler Kane Richardson has replaced Spencer Johnson who is currently recovering from a hamstring injury. Veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade will lead the Australian team.

Australia T20I squad: Matthew Wade (c), Aaron Hardie, Jason Behrendorff, Sean Abbott, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Tanveer Sangha, Matt Short, Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa.

Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody was impressed by Pat Cummins’ leadership in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. He praised him for the tactical changes he made and also hailed him for setting the staggering field placements.

Australian skipper Pat Cummins has become the talk of the town after his side thrashed India by 7 wickets in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. He has received a lot of praise for his staggering leadership in the summit clash and that potentially was why his team emerged victorious.

Pat Cummins made brilliant bowling changes and was spot-on with his field placements. With the way he rotated, his bowlers were something to cherish. He had done his homework perfectly and it seemed that he had plans for every Indian player.

Tom Moody hailed Pat Cummins for his exceptional leadership and believes that he had his best game tactically as a leader. He highlighted how he used his part-timers. Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, he explained:

“A brilliant batting performance, brilliant fielding performance. I think Pat Cummins probably had his best game tactically as a captain. I felt there’s a lot to like about what happened in the first half of the game from Australia’s point of view. He led from example.

“When he came into the attack, the Indian captain, opposition captain was up and running and flying and he led his nerve from a bowling perspective and he managed to sort of out some sort of squeeze on in the early parts of his spell. I felt the way he rotated his bowlers, how he brought the part-time bowling of Head and Marsh in for two overs each. I think between them, they only went for 9 runs for those four overs.”

“There’s a number of things that I felt that he was very clever in the way he did it,” Tom Moody praises Pat Cummins

Tom Moody was also in awe of how Pat Cummins rotated Mitchell Starc. He highlighted how the fast bowler used him when the ball was reverse-swinging. He added:

“And the way that he rotated Starc. When the ball started to reverse, he got Starc back in there and Starc took some critical wickets. When he obviously saw that the ball was getting a bit worn and Starc is one of the modern-day greats when it comes to reverse swing of that white ball.”

Tom Moody further pointed out how Pat Cummins assessed the pitch quickly and set up the field for his fellow fast bowlers. He explained:

“There’s a number of things that I felt that he was very clever in the way he did it. The other aspect is that I thought the astute field placing that he had. He recognized very quickly that the pitch itself was very slow and the way he set up the leg side field for his fast bowlers and got them to bowl into the pitch with the changing of pace, I thought was again a bit of  tactical masterstroke.”

Pat Cummins was spot on his bowling and he provided his team with crucial breakthroughs and put India under tremendous pressure. The captain removed Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli, which potentially put India on the back foot.

Suryakumar Yadav is all set to captain India in the five-match T20I series against Australia as per the reports in Cricbuzz. This comes after Hardik Pandya was ruled out after facing an injury in the ICC World Cup 2023.

The Indian squad, which played in the World Cup final will be rested and it’ll be an opportunity for young players who played in the series against Ireland. Apart from the players, the coaching staff will be rested as well and VVS Laxman will be the head coach for the five-game series.

The reports in Cricbuzz also suggested that selectors consider making Shreyas Iyer the captain. But they didn’t move forward with it, considering the workload he has taken over the last few months. Prasidh Krishna, who came in as a replacement for Hardik Pandya in the World Cup, is also likely to be there.

The selectors met in Ahmedabad on Monday (20th November) and discussed the team. It is likely that they will be giving young players more opportunities as they want to build a core for the next T20 World Cup, set to take place in June next year in the Caribbean and USA.

It’ll be a great opportunity for Suryakumar Yadav to shut all the noise around him. He received a lot of flake after his poor performances in the ICC World Cup 2023. The batter failed drastically and couldn’t get going at all. He couldn’t live up to his expectations.

Suryakumar Yadav would be hoping to regain his form and lead from the front. It’ll be a massive opportunity for him to captain the young side. He will be crucial for the team going into the World Cup 2023.

Pakistan announced a strong 18-member squad for the upcoming three-match Test series against Australia. The series will begin on 14th December in Perth and will conclude on 7th January. Shan Masood will captain the team and it’ll be his first assignment as a leader of the team.

Saim Ayub and Khurram Shahzad have received the maiden call-up whereas the rest of the names are pretty similar. But one thing that caught the attention of many was the absence of Haris Rauf from the team. The pacer has been the backbone of the team and his pace on Australian wickets would’ve been handy.

Haris Rauf’s absence from the squad raised quite a few eyebrows. But the reason behind him not being there has been known now. The pacer has himself made unavailable for the series, keeping in mind his workload and fitness.

Wahab Riaz talked about Haris Rauf’s absence and said that he was ready to play in Australia but on the eve of the squad announcement, he made himself unavailable. He admitted that despite the management assuring him that they would manage his workload, the pacer didn’t agree.

Former Australian skipper Tim Paine was in awe of Pat Cummins’ brilliant captaincy and performance in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. He said that he was brilliant in the entire game and had done his homework perfectly well.

Pat Cummins as a bowler and leader was exceptional in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. He was spot on his bowling and he provided his team with crucial breakthroughs and put India under tremendous pressure. The captain removed Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli, which potentially put India on the back foot.

Apart from his bowling, Pat Cummins displayed exceptional leadership skills and made brilliant bowling changes. He also earned a lot of praise for his magnificent field placements in the game. Australia saved around 20-25 runs in the field, which was the difference in the end.

Tim Paine admitted that Pat Cummins surprised many back gone when he opted for field first. He also highlighted the field placements he had kept for Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. Speaking to Sen Tassie, he explained:

“When we won the toss I think Pat Cummins shocked everyone a bit with the call to bowl first. Bowling first was the first call. Then when we were bowling, you could see the homework that went into it. The fields we had early to Rohit Sharma, that deep point, slip and Glenn Maxwell at like a fly slip.
“Then to change that around as soon as they saw the wicket was a bit slower and the ball got older to Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, at times we went with four guys on the off side and no cover. I haven’t seen that in one-day cricket.”

I thought Pat Cummins had one of the great games as the captain – Tim Paine

Tim Paine further lauded Pat Cummins, saying that he had a great game as a captain as well as despite not having a great tournament. He added that he’s one of those players who steps up in big games. He explained:

“I thought Pat Cummins had one of the great games as the captain and then when he bowled, that’s as good as I have seen him for a while. He hasn’t had his best World Cup, but last night, and we’ve spoken about this a lot, Australia has players who stand up in the big moments because they’ve been there before and Cummins did that not just with his leadership, but with the ball.

When he went full speed, he was hitting the wicket hard and I thought he set the tone. His captaincy brilliant, his bowling was outstanding and we were brilliant in the field as well.”

Pat Cummins will now be heading home and will prepare for the Test series against Pakistan.

Australia handed a six-wicket defeat to the host nation, India to claim their record-extending sixth World Cup title. Veteran wicketkeeper Tim Paine reckoned that the Australian cricketers will get their due credit after their triumphant run in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

The former Australian test skipper said that the likes of David Warner, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, skipper Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Glenn Maxwell should get the praise that they deserve among the greatest of all times. He mentions that some players in the current Australian squad have completed cricket by winning two World Cups, a T20 World Cup, and a World Test Championship.

“I think last night actually gives this generation of Australian cricketers the credit they deserve. Some of the guys we’ve seen in that team last night have won two World Cups, they’ve won a T20 World Cup, they’ve won the World Test Championship,” said Tim Paine.

Tim Paine Acknowledges A Generation Of Australian Players For Winning A Number Of ICC Titles

“This cements five or six of the players in that team last night as some of the absolute all-time greats of Australian cricket. I think over the last two or three years, they haven’t got that credit. Steve Smith, David Warner, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Glenn Maxwell among others. There’s a list of those guys that will be remembered now. You’ve got to win big tournaments and World Cups to cement that,” Paine added.

Earlier this year, Pat Cummins led Australia to the coveted World Test Championship (WTC), beating India in the final at the Kennington Oval in London. Travis Head was the Player of the Match in that game for his terrific 163 in the first innings. Interestingly, the opener again added to India’s misery by scoring 137 off 120 balls in the World Cup final at Ahmedabad.

Australia chased down 241 with seven overs to spare and six wickets in hand to clinch their sixth ODI World Cup title. The Aussies came back to win the tournament after suffering two consecutive defeats at the start of this World Cup. India missed out on what could have been their third World Cup title but Pat Cummins and co decided to extend India’s long drought of an ICC trophy further.

Mitchell Marsh With World Cup Trophy

Mitchell Marsh’s iconic pose with the World Cup trophy has caught a lot of eyeballs in the Indian cricket fraternity. Australia, on Sunday (November 19), thrashed Team India by six wickets in the final of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 to win a record-extending sixth title. The Pat Cummins-led side completely outplayed India in front of a jam-packed Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Bowling first, Cummins & Co. bowled out the hosts for a modest total of 240 runs in 50 overs. KL Rahul top-scored for his team, scoring 66 runs off 107 balls while Virat Kohli scored 54 runs off 63 balls. Captain Rohit Sharma also played a crucial 47-run knock to give India a good start before runs dried up once he was dismissed. For Australia, Mitchell Starc was the most successful bowler, taking 3 wickets while Cummins and Josh Hazlewood picked 2 wickets apiece.

In reply, Australia made a poor start with the bat. Mohammed Shami dismissed David Warner in the second over before Jasprit Bumrah sent back Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith to leave the team from Down Under reeling at 47 for 3.

But from thereon, it was a one-way traffic as Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne stitched together a huge match-winning partnership. The duo added 192 runs for the fourth wicket before Mohammed Siraj dismissed Head when Australia were just 2 runs short of a win. Head departed after scoring 137 runs off 120 balls while Labuschagne remained unbeaten on 58 off 110 balls.

Mitchell Marsh’s pose with World Cup trophy raises eyebrows:

A photo of Mitchell Marsh with the World Cup trophy has gone viral. Part of the Australian team that won the World Cup in 2015 too, Mitchell Marsh celebrated his second World Cup title in style. One of the pictures of him celebrating the World Cup went viral and raised a number of eyebrows in the Indian cricket fraternity. In the picture, he could be seen resting his legs on the World Cup trophy while enjoying a beer.

The gesture of resting the legs on the coveted trophy, however, has not gone down well with many. As soon as the pictures surfaced, there was widespread criticism of the player as many called it inappropriate.

Talking about the allrounder’s performance in the final, he did not really manage to make a big impact. With the ball, he bowled two tidy overs and conceded just 5 runs while with the bat, he scored a run-a-ball 15. Overall in the 2023 World Cup, Mitchell Marsh scored 441 runs in 10 innings with a top score of 177.

IND vs PAK: Watch: Shaheen Afridi Congratulates Jasprit Bumrah On Becoming Father To New-Born Son

Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi lauded India for their magnificent performance in the ICC World Cup 2023. He highlighted the brand of cricket that Men in Blue played throughout the tournament.

India was at the receiving end of a disappointing loss in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. The Men in Blue suffered a thrashing 7-wicket and lost their 10th consecutive ICC tournament loss on Trott, which has raised quite a few eyebrows.

India was asked to bat first but they couldn’t manage a big total on the board. They were bundled out for just 240 runs with KL Rahul (66) being the top scorer. Virat Kohli (51) and Rohit Sharma also chipped in but no one could get a big ton.

With the ball, India had Australia under pressure at 47/3. But after that, Travis Head (132) took the game away from them. He blasted a brutal century and was supported well by Marnus Labuschagne (58*) as Australia completed a comfortable 3-wicket win to lift their 6th title.

After Australia won the ICC World Cup 2023, Shaheen Afridi congratulated the 6-time champions. He admitted that they were better than India on the day. Taking to his Instagram account, he stated:

“Many congrats to @cricketaustralia on winning the World Cup title. Surely the better team on the day. Hard luck India but the team played fantastically well throughout the tournament.”

PCB Appoints Shan Masood as Test captain and Shaheen Afridi as T20I captain

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently announced the new captains for the Test and the T20I format after Babar Azam stepped down. Shan Masood was named as the leader in the longest format of the game whereas Shaheen Afridi will captain the T20I team.

The pacer has been fantastic as a leader in the shortest format of the game. He has guided his team to two PSL titles and hopes to take Pakistan to great heights. He played a huge role for his team in the World Cup 2023 and was amongst the leading wicket-takers in the tournament.

Although Pakistan didn’t manage to reach the semi-final, Shaheen Afridi was the biggest positive for them. He picked 18 wickets in 9 games he played. He will be next seen in action during the Test series against Australia.

Indian opener Shubman Gill has reacted for the first time after India’s loss to Australia in the World Cup final. India suffered a heartbreaking defeat against Australia in the finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The stage was set at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad where the Men In Blue was put into bat by Pat Cummins after he won the toss. India had a really good powerplay after skipper Rohit Sharma gave a terrific start but Shubman Gill went back to the pavilion early after scoring just four runs.

Rohit Sharma scored 47 off 31 balls and slammed four boundaries and three maximums in his innings. However, after his dismissal, India lost Shreyas Iyer in no time and the pressure mounted on KL Rahul and Virat Kohli which led to a disastrous middle-over phase for India. India crawled to 240 in their 50 overs and Australia chased down the target with seven overs to spare to win the World Cup title for a record-extending sixth time.

Shubman Gill penned down a heartfelt message on his social media after India lost to Australia in the finals. He stated, “Been almost 16 hours but still hurts like it did last night. Sometimes giving your everything isn’t enough. We fell short of our ultimate goal but every step in this journey has been a testament to our team’s spirit and dedication. To our incredible fans, your unwavering support in our highs and lows means the world to us. This isn’t the end, it’s not over until we win. Jai Hind”

Shubman Gill did not have an auspicious tournament with the bat. The 24-year-old youngster could only manage 354 runs in nine innings at an average of 44.25. Shubman was out of the squad for the first two matches as he was suffering from dengue but returned to the playing XI in the match against Pakistan.

However, there is no denying the fact that Shubman Gill is India’s latest prodigy and this is just a start for him. Shubman is the leading run-getter in ODIs this year and has also registered a double-century against New Zealand. The young Indian opener has a bright future ahead of him but he will have to maintain consistency in order to flourish.

Travis Head’s exemplary knock against India in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023 has forced Netizens to look back at Shane Warne’s old tweet. Australia clinched their sixth ODI World Cup title after beating India by six wickets in the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad hosted the summit clash on Sunday.

The Aussies chased down the target of 241 runs in 43 overs with six wickets in hand. Australian opener Travis Head was the star for Australia in the finals as his 137-run knock coasted Australia to the World Cup title. The left-handed batter became the overall seventh batter and third Australian to score a century in a World Cup final.

Travis Head single-handedly took Australia home and helped them seal the World Cup title for a record-extending sixth time. In fact, the 29-year-old batter received the Player of the Match award for his stellar performance. After Head’s tremendous knock in the finals, a tweet from seven years ago by Late Australian spinner Shane Warne is going viral on the internet.

“I’m a big fan of Travis Head as a cricketer, I believe he will be a future star for Australia in all forms of the game @wwos!!,” Warne had tweeted on December 6, 2016.

Travis Head missed the first five matches of the 2023 World Cup for Australia due to an injury. However, he returned and scored a brilliant hundred against New Zealand to mark a superb ODI World Cup debut on October 28 in Dharamsala.
