  • Ikram Alikhil hurt his finger

  • Afghanistan won the toss and opted to field first.

    Afghanistan team have suffered a massive blow as their key player Ikram Alikhil injured himself during the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 game against Sri Lanka. The keeper-batter hurt his finger at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. 

    Ikram Alikhil hurt his finger during the second over of the game. After the 5th ball, while collecting the ball, it brushed the little finger of his right hand and the keeper-batter looked in immense pain. The physios came out to attend to him as well. 

    Ikram Alikhil couldn’t continue after that as he walked off the field. As he was back in the dressing room, Rahmanullah Gurbaz brought out his keeping gloves and is currently doing the wicket-keeping duties.

    The seriousness of the injury is yet to be known but the Afghanistan team would be hoping for his quick recovery. Ikram Alikhil has been in decent form in the ICC World Cup 2023 as he has batted well in the middle order and has provided stability to the team.

    Coming to the match, Afghanistan won the toss and opted to field first. They were of a decent start as Fazalhaq Farooqi removed Dimuth Karunaratne early. They are coming off the win against Pakistan and would be hoping to continue their winning run. 

    AFG vs SL: Afghanistan and Sri Lanka playing 11 for the match 30th of World Cup 

    Afghanistan made one change to their team for the 30th game of the ICC World Cup 2023. They brought in Fazalhaq Farooqi in the team in place of Noor Ahmed.

    Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi (c), Azmatullah Omarzai, Ikram Alikhil (wk), Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Noor Ahmad

    Sri Lanka on the other hand made two changes to the XI. They brought in Dushmantha Chameera to the team along with Dimuth Karunaratne. Here’s the XI:
