Afghanistan players might land in hot water for their action on the field during the World Cup match against the Netherlands on Friday (November 3) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Hashmatullah Shahidi and his teammates have enjoyed tremendous support from the Indian fans throughout the World Cup so far. The players, however, could face the heat after a few of them were spotted offering Namaz (prayers) on the playing field during the game. The incident took place during a drinks break.

During the drinks break, as most players took a moment to rest and hydrate, three Afghan players decided to use the opportunity to offer Namaz. Their action, however, did not go down well with a few sections of the fans. In a video that shows the players offering their prayer, a few fans can be heard continuously jeering and booing them.
