Former South African batter AB de Villiers heaped rich praise on Heinrich Klaasen for his exploits in the ICC World Cup 2023. He hailed him as the most explosive batter in the world and said that his form would be a boost for the team going to the business end of the tournament.
Heinrich Klaasen has set the stage on fire in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. The keeper-batter is one of the main reasons behind his team’s success in the tournament and going into the semi-final, he will be very crucial for his team. The batter has changed the dynamics of the innings in almost every game for his team.
Heinrich Klaasen has smashed 316 runs in the 8 innings that he has played so far. He also has smashed one century as well. With the way he batted against spin in the tournament has been the main highlight of his batting. His exceptional batting during the death has powered South Africa to big totals in almost every game.
AB de Villiers believes that Heinrich Klaasen knows his game well and if he bats for more than 45 minutes, it’s game over for opposition. Speaking to ICC, he explained:
“When Heinrich Klaasen comes in and if he bats for 45 minutes, it’s game over. I can’t think of anyone who tops him. He is just explosive in the middle, certainly the most impactful player in the world at the moment. He’s very very explosive and knows his game well.”

AB de Villiers further hailed Heinrich Klaasen as the best player of the spin and hoped that he would continue his form in the last stages of the tournament. He explained:
“He’s definitely the best player of spin in the world at the moment. Just all around in the form of his life and hopefully can take that through in the final. It’ll boast well for South Africa.”
Heinrich Klaasen has the second-highest strike rate by batter in the World Cup 2023. He has scored runs at a rate of 144.29 and also has smashed 17 sixes in the tournament.
