The SA vs AFG ICC World Cup 2023 match will be played in Ahmedabad on November 10, Friday. The match starts at 2 pm IST and is the last league game for both teams. South Africa, India, and Australia have already qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament. One spot remains and there are three teams in contention including the Afghans.

South Africa led by Temba Bavuma have played some brilliant cricket throughout the tournament. However, their momentum was halted by India in the last match as they defeated the Protas by 243 runs bowling them out for just 83 chasing 327 to win.

The Proteas batting lineup that scored heavily against the other teams could not replicate the same form with the bat against India as they came second. Against Afghanistan, they have another chance to score big notch up a big win, and possibly top the table.

Afghanistan on the other hand, won three consecutive games and lost to Australia in their previous game. They are still on eight points and have a chance to get to 10 points if they beat the Proteas. Seeing the Proteas batters struggle against the Indian spinners, Afghanistan with their spin attack should fancy their chances. They are led by Hasmatullah Shahidi who has led from the front with the bat and as a skipper. Their last win was against the Netherlands by seven wickets in Lucknow.

Afghanistan have backed their batters to chase targets in this tournament so far. They will need to restrict South Africa to a par score and then back their batters to chase the score down. The SA vs AFG contest is expected to be close with with semi-final qualification on the line for one team.

The match will be played in Ahmedabad which will also host the ICC World Cup 2023 final. Australia defeated England by 33 runs at this venue scoring 286 batting first. A score of around 280 to 300 should be competitive. This is also the last game for the two teams ahead of the semi-finals.
