Anushka Sharma and Athiya Shetty were spotted at the Narendra Modi Stadium watching the ICC World Cup 2023 final. Both are wives of esteemed cricketers Virat Kohli and KL Rahul respectively both of whom scored fifties as India batted first after losing the toss.

India headed into the final on the back of a 10-match winning streak. However, they found batting tough in the final with the pitch showing signs of slowing down after the first 10 overs. Rohit Sharma once again gave India a quick start.

However, it was Kohli and Rahul’s 67 runs that was the key partnership that needed to flourish after Rohit and Shreya Iyer (4) fell in quick succession. There was a period of more than 20 overs where India did not score any boundary.

Batting became increasingly difficult in the final overs and Suryakumar Yadav who was included in the XI to do a specific job in the final 10 overs could only score 18 off 28 balls as India finished with a below-par total.

Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh who is a part of the Star Sports commentary team for the final, seemed to have taken a sly dig at Anushka and Athiya. Seeing them talk to each other, Harbhajan predicted what their conversation might be like.

“I don’t know if they’re talking about cricket or films, I don’t think they know much about cricket,” he said on commentary.

In the end, it was a good bowling effort from the Australian bowlers. Mitchell Starc ended with 3/55. Josh Hazlewood ended with two for 60 bowling slower bouncers in the final overs to make batting difficult. Skipper Pat Cummins took 2/34 including the big wicket of Virat Kohli.

India scored 240/9 with Mohammed Siraj hitting a crucial boundary in the final over to take India to that score. Australia now needs 241 runs to win their sixth World Cup title.
