Right before the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 between India and Australia, Australian skipper Pat Cummins said that there is no better sight than silencing a full crowd in a stadium. Pat Cummins got his moment when he took the prized wicket of India’s batting maestro Virat Kohli. The Ahmedabad crowd went pin-drop silence as Virat Kohli departed after scoring 54.

KL Rahul and Virat Kohli stitched a partnership of 67 runs after losing two quick wickets. However, Pat Cummins induced a false shot off Kohli, who got an inside edge and was played on. Pat Cummins talked about the silence in the crowd after Kohli’s wicket in the post-match press conference.

“We did take a second in the huddle just to acknowledge the silence that was going around the crowd. It felt like it was one of those days all made for him to score another hundred like he normally does. That was satisfying,” Cummins said in the post-match press conference.

Pat Cummins Joins Elite List Of Captains

Virat Kohli received the Player of the Tournament award for his tremendous performance in the World Cup. He scored 765 runs from 11 matches with a stunning average of 95.62 and a strike rate of 90.32. He slammed three centuries and six half-centuries.

Australian Skipper Pat Cummins finished with figures of 2/34 in his given ten overs. Pat Cummins dismissed Shreyas Iyer apart from claiming the prized wicket of Virat Kohli. He also joins the elite list of Australian captains to have led the team to a World Cup title. The list comprises legends like Allan Border, Steve Waugh, Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, and now Pat Cummins enters the list.

Travis Head was the star for the Aussies who scored a brilliant 137 off 120 balls. He won the player of the match award for his performance in the finals. Head slammed 15 boundaries and four maximums to help Australia reach the target of 241 with seven overs in hand. Marnus Labuschagne partnered with Travis Head and put on 192 runs for the fourth wicket to take Australia past the finish line. Labuschagne played a proper test knock scoring 58 off 110 balls and he kept one end safe for Head to express himself and attack.
